Mike Callaghan needs our help
In West Virginia there is a race that has gone somewhat unnoticed. West Virginia's Second Congressional district is a district that can be won back to the Democratic side. The incumbent, Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, is the daughter of convicted felon and former Gov. Arch Moore of WV. She has taken thousands of dollars from Jack Abramoff and Tom Delay. She has voted with the president and the Republican party almost every time a vote has been cast.
Callaghan on the hand is a former Federal Prosecutor with a great deal of experience on his side. Callaghan was a Federal Prosecutor for almost 10 years, the Secretery of the Department of Environmental Protection in West Virginia, and was the State Democratic Party Chairman. He is well liked and well respected throughout his district.

The Second Congressional District is registered two to one Democratic and this is a race that has a very vulnerable incumbent. Shelley Moore Capito has voted against the citizens of the district so much that the citizens are ready to send her packing.

On Wednesday, July 26th, President Bush is coming to Charleston, WV, to host a $4200.00 a couple dinner in a private home. The President is flying into the airport in Charleston and then taking a helocopter to the private residence so that he does not have to interact with the working people of the City of Charleston. This shows how out of touch with West Virginia the President is and how out of touch Shelley Moore Capito is.

Mike Callaghan needs our help. While his opponent is hosting the President of the United States, Mike will be attending several house parties with regular people. Mike stands for raising the minimum wage, ensuring that people have access to quality healthcare, and wants an immediate plan to end the war in Iraq.

Callaghan can win, but he needs our help with money. If you could donate anything, whether it be $5 or $100 every bit helps. You can donate on his website, via paypal, at www.mikewv.com. There is also an act blue site for the Callaghan campaign.

We can win the Second Congressional District of West Virginia. But, Mike Callaghan needs your help. Do not let this opportunity be squandered!

I'd suggest you also post this to the GD: Politics forum. I'm sure there are plenty of folks, not just West Virginians, who'd like to see Shelley Moore Capito out on her corrupted ass!

3. OK, I think I will post in GD-P as you suggest
BTW, I just received this via email from the WV Democratic party:

On Wednesday, July 26, President George W. Bush will fly into Charleston to attend an invitation only $4,200/couple fundraiser for Shelly Moore Capito. He’s not talking to the press or making any public appearances, because he is trying to hide from his failed policies. Join us in rejecting their special interest money and attend:

saying?

Claiming she never went along with all the things Bush pushed through congress? What didn't she support? I can't think of ANYTHING. The democrats shouldn't let her get away from her sorry record of lockstep bullshit!

5. I saw her on CSPAN a couple of days ago.
I thought I was gonna hurl. She was in a "debate" with Democratic Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, as part of an effort that is meant to bring more civility to the House of Representatives, according to their claim. For all those years, Republicans constantly attacked Democrats at every turn, accusing us of anything and everything, so as to fire up their base and even convert the small-minded to their 'cause'. Now that they have control of all 3 branches of government, we're supposed to make nice? I don't think that's a very smart move for Democrats.

Anyway, the "debate" was pretty sickening. To me it seemed Cleaver was more interested in kissing Smelly's butt than making any point. It was about Bush's tax cuts and their impact. Forrest Gump or Pee Wee Herman would have been able to mop the floor with any opponent on that one, but he let her get by with expounding a myth that the tax cuts did not primarily benefit the wealthy elite.

Here's a Daily Smell article about the exchange.

Capito, fellow official
promote civility in debate

Wednesday July 26, 2006

"I have even been in this chamber when I have heard hissing at another member when they are speaking," said the West Virginia Republican.

Now she and Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, D-Mo., hope to clean up the halls of Congress by promoting civility.

Capito chairs a committee called the Civility Taskforce, which was founded by Cleaver. The two congress members conducted the inaugural "Civility Hour" debate Monday night on the issue of taxation.

<snip>

Capito was asked to chair the Civility Taskforce by Rep. David Dreier, R-Calif., chairman of the House Rules Committee, on which Capito serves.

Remember when Capito switched from the Transportation to the Rules Committee? Too bad for her constituents, who could have benefitted from her support on the Transportation Committee, just as the roads bill was being put together.

Essentially, she sacrificed the best interests of her district by abandoning a spot where she was well placed to deliver badly needed infrastructural funding in favor of a post where carrying water for Tom DeLay would advance her ambitions for a leadership post.

Looks like her strategy is working. Just like Daddy, she cares only about advancing her own personal interests, and not those of West Virginians.

7. Pardon my French, but she's one LYING ASS BEE-UTCH
I just don't understand the support she has in this state -- I really don't. She's absolutely VILE and AMORAL and CORRUPT, just like her dear old daddy.
