i live in Milwaukee, but my parents live in Racine County, so I was reading the Racine paper and came across a bunch of crap. Here's my letter:
What liberal media?
As I was reading the Friday, July 16 Letters to the Editor, one reader's comment struck me. After wading through two letters denouncing John Kerry for his stance on abortion, and another supporting Bush's war in Iraq, the final letter concluded by saying, "If you are going to be fair and balanced, why always omit items that would be `not nice' about the Democratic Party?"
I found this interesting because 4 of the 6 letters were written by Bush supporters saying something bad about the Democrats (the other two had nothing to do with politics).
In a day when the Republicans control the White House, Congress, and as some would argue, the Supreme Court, you'd think that we'd stop hearing complaints about our so-called "liberal media."
If the American media is so liberal, why did they fail to ask the tough questions leading up to the Iraq war? Why have they failed to cover the traitorous outing of CIA agent Valerie Plame? Why have they have failed to report that Bush has lied about Medicare, the No Child Left Behind Act, his environmental initiatives, his relationship with Ken Lay and Enron and a whole host of other issues? In the last 4 years, the American media has basically taken their spoon-fed reports from the White House and has passed them off as unbiased news. As I like to say, the media is only as liberal as the rich businessmen who own it.
