Come right to the park. It's huge, it has a lagoon or two, and the Bush* supporters took out a last-minute permit for Picnic Area 1. That's not very near the Edwards Block Party, but you might want to scope out what they're doing.

Otherwise, if you have your heart set on Lake Michigan, there's lots of grassy space along Lake Shore Drive and at Lake Park. Just take the 794 exit east toward the lake and follow the signs.

what was the story with the white/green tickets anyway? who got the green tickets?

I saw on the news "Bush campaign had a rally.." there were like 10-20 people making phone calls on picnic benches.

I don't like cold calls. it seems like that's most of what is required.

I don't like phone banking myself. But there's plenty of other jobs too. Sign painting. Data entry. Ushering at events. Lots more. It wouldn't hurt to call the office and let them know what you'd be interested in doing. They're great about fitting the volunteers' talents to the jobs they have. The office number is 414.344.1511. We had a great time. Spent the early part of the day driving up the road on the lake front. Saw A LOT of Kerry Edwards lawn signs (I am not kidding, it had to be 40 to 1 Kerry over Bush)

Ate lunch at a nice Greek restraunt (Mykonos).

Saw the kites flying at the beach (man, was it windy!).

Then enjoyed the block party.

Edwards was GREAT! I had not seen him in person before. He is a natural.

I was thinking, as we battled with that gigantic American flag, that it would have been great kite-flying weather.

And aren't the homes on Lake Drive spectacular? The East Side is the more liberal part of town, so I'm not surprised that they're decidedly Kerry.
