Canvassed tonight rgt up to the packer game, but could no longer read the voter list so took a break and got an led flashlight, finishing about 830pm.
This canvassing thing is something you get better at over time. I got more undecideds tonight than usual, and think it's partly technique - if you press gently passed the "not interested" response you sometimes uncover an undecided - I had thought the "not interesteds" were repubs.
I was very discouraged at first dealing with republicans (think I was "hating them"). Although, it's literally life/death, war/peace, ie very serious stuff, your best off being polite with everyone, the opening phrase is important - you want to gracefully, politely, quickly disengage from decided republicans. Honestly I don't quite understand why, but I had fun tonight, so please consider canvassing - think of some of your heroes while doing it - Scott Ritter, Hans Blix, Greg Palast.. Help me remember more names pls.
Still the south side near Mitchell field is leaning Bush.
I'm encouraged/excited that we're seeing serious experienced organizers from out of state showing up - with a clear hunger to win, to learn about the Milwaukee area and a readyness to refocus on different parts of the city.
-- good night
