Two new polls put Feingold in front
Less than six weeks before the election, two new polls show U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.) holding a lead over Republican challenger Tim Michels, in part by drawing significant support from voters who also support President Bush.

In a Badger Poll released Thursday, Feingold led Michels 53% to 38% among probable voters, with 9% undecided or giving other answers. The poll was conducted by the University of Wisconsin Survey Center and sponsored by the Journal Sentinel and the Capital Times in Madison.

2. Don't know why that happens
lots of people split their part affiliation in national elections. Voting for Feingold and then Bush? Happens, but is it logical?

7. I have a Republican friend...
... who's been active for 50 years and she's voting for Feingold. She respects his independence, does not like Michels or the neo-cons he's in bed with. Like the polls suggest, she will still vote for Bush. She doesn't like him, but likes Kerry less.

4. Michel's dirty ads haven't started yet
He's using the swift boat company - I suspect that it will get down and dirty real soon.

5. Feinie should be able to withstand it
I wish, however, that he would do a joint TV ad with Kerry or explicitly endorsing Kerry. Those poll numbers underscore the need for this.

6. All I remember...
... is how that backfired on Kasten when Feingold took him out. The first stab that Michels made- accusing Feingold of not supporting seniors ref prescription drugs- was so blatant that it WILL cost him if he keeps it up.

10. Bumper stickers
Hi from a recent ex-GOP ship-jumper...

Where's a good place in Madison to fetch Kerry and Feingold bumper stickers? Can't wait to vote for them, espeically Russ Feingold. One of the big things that drove me away from the GOP was John Ashcroft's perverse fascination with curtailing civil liberties...especially the horrifying provisions leaked in the Patriot II draft. I appreciate Sen. Feingold's principled stand against the (un)Patriot(ic) Act, and am sick unto death of Tim Michels's paternalistic condescending pro-Patridiot Act ads.

Thanks a bunch,

Todd P

11. Welcome to DU
The best place for paraphernalia is probably the state party (DPW) headquarters on West Wash. You can reach them by phone and they'll let you know if there are any other places closer to you.

12. Welcome aboard B3!
Another way to shop for buttons and stickers is at the Saturday farmers' market on the square. Dems have tables set up and you can also find some unofficial (and humorous) items for sale by other vendors.
And don't forget to support local farmers while you're there!
