7. A combination of things...
1) Negative ads.
2) All the hoopla by the Swift Boat team.
3) Kerry is made to look like a fool for all the supposed flip-flop he's been doing on certain issues (Iraq).

I don't put a lot of stock in the polls but we have to acknowledge them or else we're going to be shaking our heads in a few months asking what went wrong.

8. You only have to acknowledge them if you assume their veracity,
I, for one, don't believe the polls for a second. They are
all over the map, and for each poll to quote a +-3 percent
accuracy is garbage when the same polling population is sampled!
By definition, someone is Wrong!

9. Wisconsin has many purist progressives that I fear will go for Nader
The left never seems to learn that we never win when he engage in circular firing squads. When the vegans will not talk to the dairy farmers, when the loggers won't talk to the bird watchers, the big picture gets smeared.

I know some Democrats who don't find Kerry perfect on every one of their pet issues, so therefore they are going to vote for Nader "to send Kerry a message". Little good that will do if Bush stays in the White House. Anyway, I ask, how can Nader get all of his wonderful programs in place when not ONE member of his party occupies one seat in the Congress!!!

Remember it was infighting on the left in Germany that allowed a small band of Nazis to take power.

15. This is making me NUTS!!
I have a some friends in the Fox Valley region.......Fond du Lac to Appleton......mostly business associates...they're all for Bush ....two of them have become "born again" in the last two years, Rush is on the office overhead radio or in the workshop.

They don't listen to reason. They don't debate facts. I've severed my contacts with them because there is no way I can convince them.

This is the area where I thin Duabya is strongest and I don't know why.

Hell the John Birch Society is headquarterd in that area, and it's the hometown of Joe McCarthy.

17. Probably the PCB's in the water
I've never figured it out either. It wasn't that long ago that the Fox Valley was extremely blue collar. Now it's maniacal.

18. There's hope in the FV
With respect to why blue-collar Fox Valley residents will vote Repukelican, it's simple: God, Gays, and Guns.

But you know what? The economy is also pretty good in Appleton. It's the workers in New London and Oshkosh watching their jobs march across the border and overseas, for the most part. And everyone else in the service-based sector will indeed vote with their pocket books once the triple-whammy of Bush's failed economic policies eventually hits: the deficit, blind tax cuts for the wealthy, and the sheer denial of REAL solutions to the climbing cost of oil and healthcare.

Sadly, I fear the triple whammy will hit in the second or third year of a second Bush administration. The band-aid appears to be holding for now. But the band-aid won't stick for long.

But I'm keeping the faith. Eventually, someone pulls the curtain back and we see who really is the "Great and Powerful Wizard of Oz."
