Has anyone heard the radio ad saying Joanna Kloppenburg has no judicial experience she
is only a "government" lawyer! Do they not thing judges are "government" workers... Walker is a "government" worker... Why the incessant attack on government workers as if they were welfare queens/kings?

My sensitivity on "government" workers aside, any judges sitting on the bench who have not had judicial experience? I know the polls are saying the two candidates are in a dead heat and the incumbent doesn't do well in these special elections....

http://news.firedoglake.com/2011/03/28/polling-shows-tight-race-for-wisconsin-state-supreme-court/

"Two sources with knowledge of internal GOP polling tell us that Prosser and Kloppenburg are near even, a bad sign for the incumbent. “She has driven his negatives up,” one source says. “It will be hard to drive hers up. Her lack of judicial experience should hurt her, but it also makes her harder to pin down. The question now is: Does the Right have enough resources to counter the Greater Wisconsin Committee’s millions? And even if they do, is it too late? It is going to be touch-and-go for these last few days.”

This is pretty bad for Prosser, as these elections are typically rubber-stamps for the incumbent."

"Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce are soliciting “unlimited and undisclosed donations” in support of Walker. The Wisconsin Club for Growth is also intervening on Prosser’s behalf".

8. Kloppenburg is very tough on WI farmers
Agreed, right on!
JoAnne Kloppenburg sure has been tough on our WI farmers.
She's great at taking money from our poor hard working farmers and then giving it to the DNR.

10. Welcome to DU
and thanks for the links. Yes, how dare she, as a mere gov't worker, work to uphold state anti-pollution laws. The nerve of some people. And she dragged that poor Mr. JB Van Hollen into her nastiness. Rock on JoAnne. :hi:

2. She has practiced extensively in appellate courts
As far as knowing how appellate courts work and the kinds of issues that come before them, she'll be just fine. Justice Abrahamson had been a law professor but never a judge before she joined the Supreme Court. Roggensack had been on the court of appeals. Bradley, Crooks, Gableman and Ziegler had been judges in county trial courts, but that is quite different from being a member of the Supreme Court, where justices are the final arbiters of what the law is, and in fact can make law judicially, so Kloppenburg is far ahead of them in that respect. If just any kind of judicial experience is required, then because Prosser himself had never been a judge, he was not qualified when he was appointed.

5. Just heard it a few minutes ago on the radio.
All I noticed was the snotty tone. Sounded like a gossipy high schooler.

11. "Government" laywer
or "government" whatever is a form of dog whistle politics. Remember the nationwide push on the state level is to push the economic crash onto the government and off of Wall Street.
