MADISON, Wis. - For years, Wisconsin elections have run on piles of paperwork, put-upon poll workers and plenty of good faith.
No more.
Spurred by new federal laws and complaints of fraud in the last two presidential decisions, state election officials plan to tweak how Wisconsin runs the 2006 election. On tap are a statewide list of registered voters, electronic voting for people with disabilities and more poll worker training.
Republican state legislators, meanwhile, are talking about a constitutional amendment to require photo identification at the polls. And there are rumblings about moving the state's fall primary back to let soldiers overseas get absentee ballots back in time for the November general election.
