I read about a tour to Iqaluit and am kind of thinking about it.

1. I've never been farther north than La Ronge.
I know a few people living in Yellowknife. That is some remote sparse part of the world.

But there was just something on CBC yesterday or today about tundra tourism, and the thrill of knowing that you're stepping on a bit of tundra or rock where no human foot has ever stepped before.

Damn, can't remember the specifics, something about a new "group of seven" artists heading north.

Hmm ... if it was this morning (sorry I can't remember, and can't find anything specifically about it at the CBC site), you might be able to see it here today:

"Canada Now" (half hour)

edit -- just ran through that one, and that was some kinda old news; not today's. You could try last night's The National (1 hour) though, (I assume that's what's there).

3. Hay River NWT is my farthest point north
I would say, take the tour if you can manage the cost. The far north is fascinating.

4. I'm a loser, no further than Sudbury or so...
But I would love to travel cross country someday.
