Liberals will no longer support government: report
Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff is expected to announce Tuesday his party will no longer support Stephen Harper's minority Conservative government, The Canadian Press reports, making the prospect of a fall election more likely.

The Bloc Québécois and NDP have previously indicated they would vote against Harper's Tories in a confidence vote in the House of Commons.

Speaking Monday during his party's caucus gathering in Sudbury, Ont., Ignatieff said the Harper government was on "life support" and suggested the Liberals would not back the government unless it changed its direction.

The Liberals will have their first opportunity to present a motion of non-confidence the first week of October, but Ignatieff hasn't indicated whether he'll do that.

1. It seems we have an election campaign underway.
Ignatieff just gave a 'vision' speech, and the first indication of where he wants to take the country.

2. This is off topic, but you know what I wish Iggy had done?
Wouldn't it have been great for him to have written an op-ed piece in either a Canadian or US newspaper, defending Canadian healthcare? It would have kept him in the news, and appealed to 90ish percent of the Canadian electorate. It kind of sucks that he was totally off the radar for so long, while Harper had great press coverage all summer.

3. Timing is vital.
Nobody pays attention to politics in the summer.

4. Ignatieff to Harper: ‘Your time is up'
Speaking to reporters in Calgary, meanwhile, the Prime Minister Stephen said he hasn't met a single voter who wants an election now, less than a year after the last one, and instead they expect their political leaders to focus on the economy.

Obviously he doesn't speak to many people. Obviously only to those who agree with him!
