EI premium increases could cost 200,000 jobs: business group

OTTAWA -- A decimated labour force and the freezing of employment insurance premium rates is about to send employment insurance-paying employees and employers on a "roller-coaster ride" that could cost up to 200,000 jobs, according to a study released Wednesday by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business.


After years of running billion-dollar surpluses, the CFIB estimates the federal government's EI fund will reach a deficit of $14.7 billion by 2012.

And if you're only making $30,000 you shouldn't want to either.
