In front of a roaring crowd at Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, Virtue, of London, Ont., and Moir, of Ilderton, Ont., scored a personal-best 110.42 points in their skate to Adagietto from Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 5.

It was good enough to take North America's very first ice dancing Olympic gold with a whopping 221.57 points over friends and trainingmates Meryl Davis and Charlie White of the United States.

Russian reigning world champions Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin finished third.

2. Yes, it was.
Skating together since they were 7 and 9, and it just flowed.

3. Their free dance was exquisite!
I loved every second of it. After the Americans had such a great skate, I wasn't sure if they could top them but, damn, they sure did.

First in North America to win gold in the Ice Dance, the youngest ever to win the Ice Dance, amazing.

I think the placements in the three skating events held so far; mens, pairs and ice dance, are proving the new judging program is working very well.
