A question for my fellow Cdn DUers (re: strategic voting)

Does anyone know of any person or group that is serious about organizing a strategic voting campaign to defeat Conservatives in the coming federal election?

If so, I'd really like to join with and support them.

So, if you know of any group or individual that intends or wants to mount this kind of campaign in the coming federal election, could you let me know who they might be?

(Note: This is no trick. I think an organized strategic voting campaign run separately from any party could make some difference in the coming election, and I'd really like to support such a campaign.)

1. Last election I remember one in particular popped up

The name is escaping me at the moment, but it was very very popular on facebook (had tens of thousands of members). It basically had a list of "rules" for strategic voting (i.e vote for the incumbent if it isn't a conservative), and also kept track of ridings that were close enough to require strategic voting. I'll look for it now and post back here when I can find it.

on edit: It was called the "ABC Project" (Anything But Conservative). The facebook group seems to have been disbanded, but I'm certain it will make a reappearance in the next election.

I'll see what I can find about the group. It is rather remarkable that polls show that many Canadians would engage in strategic voting to defeat conservatives, but absolutely no-one is organizing to assist them in doing so in a way that would make a difference.

This would include voting rules or guidelines, such as what you mention, so people can use their vote intelligently to reduce Conservative MPs, and even vote exchanges, where people in hopeless ridings swap votes with people in ridings where a small vote shift would ensure victory for non-Conservatives.

Okay, maybe it isn't "remarkable" that no-one is helping strategic voters, since all of the honchos that run the major opposition parties are far too partisan to advocate anything other than the usual hopeless "vote for me" campaigns, even in hopeless ridings.

Anyway, thanks for that tip about ABC. I welcome any further information anyone can offer.
