Rob Ford accused of verbally attacking 911 dispatchers

Sources say Ford turned on the dispatcher, yelling: “You … bitches! Don’t you f--king know? I’m Rob f--king Ford, the mayor of this city!”

Obviously this guy is either does not have good manners, was extremely stressed by the situation or both. None of these qualities are especially appealing.

1. I think it's more a sense of entitlement
or grandiosity. Like, "I'm a busy person and I don't need to deal with this crap. I'm going to call 911 because THOSE people work for ME so THEY will darn well listen to me and get rid of this nuisance!"

They say he was 'scared'. I highly doubt that. I don't know of one person that does NOT know who Marg Delahunty is. Even IF he had no idea who it was, he HAS to know that there are comedy shows here in Canada where they accost politicians ALL the time. I think he was just being a poor sport. And it's very typical of that personality type.

As an aside - I cannot, for the life of me, find the video of Marg accosting Jean Charest and styling his hair. That was my favorite clip of all-time and I cannot find it anywhere. Any ideas?

2. Just "Cleaning Up
The physical mess that I was elected to do and that is what we are doing." (My best attempt to put on copy what he said.)

Starts about 3:50 into the encounter.

If you listen to the recording, it seems like the whole world has to revolve around his life. And from the evolving stories, it appears that his world is continually being revised in his and his brothers' mind!

James: Police cuts? An insult to our intelligence

Who knows? Maybe there will be some more tasty morsels to appear shortly, if things don't go the way they are supposed to go?

3. If he didn`t say what CBC reported...
Then they should apologize just as he has. I will say this, he doesn`t seem like the kind of guy who is cool under pressure, not a very endearing characteristic when you are the mayor of a large city and need to deal with the public snd the unforgiving media.

He is correct though that Toronto needs to face some cuts. They simply cannot continue with budget deficit after deficit, he was elected to do this job. The problem is, from what I read he doesn`t seem to have a plan in which to do this especially when cutting jobs only means support from other sources (welfare for instance). He has kept one major promise from what I can tell, that is to freeze property taxes, but this is a balancing game, you either increase revenues, decrease expenses or ideally both. Toronto is in deep enough that both would be the case. Where the revenue comes from and the cuts needs to be addressed is anyones guess, and it is frightening that he either doesnt seem to know himself or he is holding his cards close to the vest, neither scenario is acceptable when lives are affected.

He seems out of touch, from him not knowing Margaret Atwood, to his feelings about libraries, his bird flipping incidents while he was on his cellphone, his position on shark fins (when there is clear evidence of how horrific and needless the killing are to simply take their fin) and the importance of showing support for the gay pride parade, which is a cash cow for the city. Some of these things may appear superficial (not knowing who Atwood is cannot be construed as a crime) but it does show that he is isolated and unwilling to compromise. Being mayor is a job that requires smart decisions and alot of positive PR, you need to sell the city, he doesn`t do this effectively.

Ultimately if he were doing a bang on job none of these issues would matter, they could be easily overlooked, take Hazel for instance, she has lead Mississauga for decades and even though she faced her worst accusations recently she is still rated number 1 by her constituents. As a born and raised Torontonian I would like to see him get it right.

4. excuse me, but if you do live in Toronto
you know perfectly well that this man is an extreme right-wing pig puppet of corporate interests.

There really isn't much more needs to be said ...
