Ministers ban 15 'terror groups'
Fifteen international groups believed to be terrorist organisations are set to be banned, the Home Office has said. These are on top of 25 international organisations already proscribed under the Terrorism Act 2000, and a further 14 already banned in Northern Ireland.

They include groups with links to Iraq, Uzbekistan, Libya, Pakistan, Somalia, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Morocco.

The government is also planning to change the law so that it can ban groups which glorify terrorism.

Being a member of a proscribed organisation under the Terrorism Act 2000 can be punished by a 10-year prison term.

The groups:

Libyan Islamic Fighting Group
Groupe Islamique Combattant Marocain (Morocco)
Ansar Al-Islam (Northern Iraq)
Al Ittihad Al Islamia (Somalia)
Islamic Jihad Union (Uzbekistan)
Ansar Al Sunna (Iraq)
Hezb-e Islamia Gulbuddin (Afghanistan)
Harakat ul Muhajideen/Alami (Kashmir)
Jundallah (Palestine)
Sipah-e Sahaba Pakistan
Lashkar-e Jhangvi (Pakistan - splinter group of above)
Khuddam u-Islam (Pakistan / Kashmir)
Jamaat ul Furquan (Pakistan)
Harakat ul Jihad ul Islami (Bangladesh)
Harakat ul Islami (Bangladesh)

Ansar al-Islam are pretty well known as the Colin Powell at the UN "al-Qaeda linked, ricin producing & harborer of Zarqawi" group and the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group is the one alleged to have been paid £100,000 by Mi6 to assassinate Qaddafi. I googled the rest to get the countries they are based in. I have no problem banning these groups - but the "glorifying terrorism" thing really troubles me.
