tabloid ITV news values
The time ITV just devoted to their evening news items:

6 minutes 30 seconds: resignation of man no-one had heard of a week ago, for not admitting sex with his secretary, but telling media she did bonk one of his other employees (including frank admission by ITV reporter that he'd stalked Eriksson for 3 days without getting a single word from him)
2 m: bombs at Iraqi churches
2 m 45 s: USA terror alert
45 s: other headlines (Prague explosion, Paraguay fire, Diana fountain)
1 m 15 s: cricket
30 s: bloody FA again (in both senses of FA)

So over half the programme was devoted to a non-item about a non-entity.
What a waste of airtime. Can you trust them to get anything in proportion these days?

1. Trouble is...

...the office bike at the FA seems to be all the papers are covering too. That seems to be the news item people are picking up on.

What annoys me though is that the whole FA thing is getting more coverage on some of the sports pages then the cricket! I guess people would rather just find something to whinge about rather than something to be glad of.

3. It's madness.......
2 unmarried men have had (hopefully) separate sexual encounters with an unmarried woman and yet somehow that's headline news and enough rope to hang someone with.....

What amused me was that like any other employer, the FA has absolutely no right to ask Sven about who he's shagging, and I presume that they can't ask the secretary in question either.

So even if they did deny shagging (which was a lie) the FA can't sack them for lying about something outside work which doesn't affect their performance at work.

So what was the point?

Oh - and YAY! the cricket!!!!!!! Mind you, I was looking forward to listenning to it as I drove back from the Midlands on Sunday....bastards only bloody finished the match before I set off!

2. I saw that! Couldn't fucking believe it......
An ITN reporter standing there, looking into the camera and saying, "I've been sitting outside his house for 3 days where he's been hiding, surrounded by tabloid reporters..."

I don't know what to be more upset and embarrassed about....

1. the complete fuckwittery of the FA and it's total inability to get anything right or

2. ITN devoting most of its news output to the story, and then congratulating itself on how tabloid it is....

I think I've reached the end of my tether with this country.....

4. Much as I hate to add to this topic
because that would be to give the story some credability. But what the hey, I need to cut loose from time to time.

So a newspaper (or anyone else) asks my employer if I've been shagging xxxx. I would expect my employer to refuse to discuss it. No ifs & buts. It's no-one's business save the two (or more) people involved.
