Tony's Impeachment
How much damage do you think this will cause Tony? I doubt the measure will pass but I am not sure as to whether it will achieve it's aims.

1. I don't see where it would do any harm
to at least have it on record that what he did was impeachable.

2. Sounds like a lovely idea!
I don't think anything much will come of it. Impeachment isn't really a current part of the British system, though it's never been taken off the books; and I don't quite see it happening at a time when the House of Lords (where the trial would have to take place) is undergoing so many changes. But raising the idea might cause Tony a bit of embarrassment.

3. It could be that...
As Tony has messed around with the Lords so much, they would be very willing to impeach him...

Although I don't have high hopes

4. Impeachment by numbers
As with Clinton, attempts to oust Blair could leave the leader stronger.

5. High crimes & Mister Meaners (sic)..
There is no chance of PM being put on trial in House of Lords, alas, but this will keep alive discussion of his duplicity. It reflects views of thousands (millions?) who believe PM is at best lying get,at worst war criminal.

6. Slowly,but surely....
Fight to impeach Blair gains support

>>MPs mounting an attempt to impeach Tony Blair for allegedly
misleading the country over the war with Iraq yesterday expressed
confidence they could secure enough support to force a Commons
debate early next year.

The campaign organisers will publish independent legal advice from barristers
Rabinder Singh and Conor Gearty on Wednesday.
"It will be a robust argument in favour of impeachment,"
a member of the campaign said yesterday.<<
