http://www.idler.co.uk/html/frontsection/craptown/30_5/england.htmIf you believe some of the things posted on the internet it is the worst place on God Earth. Of course, most of these reports are actually written by people who live in Bognor and have no plans on moving anywhere else. The English have a peculiar habit of denigrating places for which they harbour a secret affection. I have visited Bognor on and off for over fifty years and while it is no beauty spot I can think of many other places in the UK which are far worse. The town is not far from the historic city of Chichester which dates back to Roman times and, if you go inland about 10 miles, the countryside around Petworth in West Sussex is some of the most beautiful in England.
