1. You have to look for it...
...far right hand, downscreen, under "Latest Headlines" (#4 on the list at 11 am Pacific time, 12/7). You need Real Player.

It is a masterpiece of the art of marginalization. NPR is far better at making protestors sound like raving, unpleasant people, and Bush hitmen like Kenneth Blackwell and their university professor experts-at-lapping-puddles-at-the-feet-of-power sound like the reasonable people, than any other news organization. They are pros at it.

1. They soundclip Bob Fritakis, as was done to Howard Dean, as he tries to trumpet his very hoarse voice to a large crowd--no mention of size of crowd--the phrase they clip unconvincing, unreasonable sounding rant, very likely made to seem so by how it's cut.

2. Blackwell--indoors, no ambient sound, well fed, good salary, manicure that very morning, says "Elections are human endeavors. There are always problems here and there...".

3. Some academic poodle from Ohio--Daniel Takogi (sp?)--says, "There is evidence of serious, serious problems, but I don't think..."--I can't remember what he don't think, who cares? --something to do with give it up, it's hopeless, it is not sanctioned by the powers, kiss my Ph.D.

If you want us to show our "appreciation" to NPR for this "exposure," please provide a contact url.

Gr-r-r-r-r-r-r!

2. I know that the object is...
...just to get the word out there, to the 60 million voters who repudiated Bush and elected Kerry--to hearten them, to inform them, and to mobilize them. I think that's of top importance.

And I know that to do so we have to swallow a lot of crap, and that factual analysis and hard data mean absolutely nothing to mainstream 'journalists' and especially to their silky-voiced, kulllllllltured brethrenhood and sisterhood at our National 'Public' Roll-over and Get Tickled by our Rich Sponors station.

But I still think it's important to be fully aware of what they do to grass roots movements and real issues, how they do it, and who they're working for (not us).

So, really, if you want to send a semi-civilized communication to NPR thanking them (gulp...) for the coverage and urging more, don't let my rage stop you! It's good work. The disenfranchised will sift through the noise and get the message. Believe me, Kerry voters already know, deep down, that Bush could not have won in an honest election.
