27. He bailed !!!

The REAL story of this election are the electronic voting machines!!! There is NO WAY to know if their contents are correct or not. They can be manipulated AT WILL!!!

From this point on, the Democrats need to show Electronic Voting machines for what they are!!! They must fight rally and cojole. And we even need some people to find and DESTROY these vote stealing machines as statements of patriotism!!!!

Old fart? No way!

Being a liberal keeps me from being one. Being compassionate, open-minded and tolerant. Any driving my 57 Chevy (350 4-speed) doesn't let me think of myself as old.

OK, I survived the 60's and the lessons learned from that era is what will sustain me at this time of devastating disappointment. The key for me is to not dwell on the 'little things' of yesterday but to face the reality by looking at this on the whole; what it means for us as a country and where do we go from here.

I think the fight should be with the voting machines with no paper trail. I do not understand how we can ever trust this design. IMO, that should be the focus now.

My first thoughts were: I hate this country, I'm never voting again and my disappointment will consume me.
But, no, that is not who I am. I have to stay true to my beliefs as I absorb this, not let this absorb me.
So, we will do what we can, take the time necessary to get through this, and fight on.

40. I guess it's a good thing that I had paper ballots....
along with (most likely) most of Florida.

I think the only counties using the machines were Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Sarasota, and one or two others out of 67 counties.

Here's what I wanted to post, just in the general discussion forum:

Now that the election is history, do you suppose that Bush will still require loyalty oaths for spectators when he makes an appearance? If so, do you suppose that the media will take any notice? I suspect I know the answers to these questions already...

36. Nor will I
It's just that this very troubling aspect of his "presidency" speaks volumes about the path he's taking us down.

It reminds me of that movie, Starship Troopers, where only members of the party get to be citizens.

By the way, demokatgurrl, I'd sure be in your debt if you could post this question about the oaths, etc. as a new thread for me. For some reason I'm locked out and I'd really love to see what people think about this issue. If you don't want to do it, that's cool, too.

22. Oh, I feel your sadness and rage, Flammable!
Here is the letter I left on the JohnKerry website:

Sent to Senator Kerry - Nov 3

You are CONCEDING, BEFORE the VOTES are COUNTED??!!

You have violated your own pledge, Senator Kerry. You promised us directly, in the Madison crowd a week ago--you would have our back, if we would have yours.

Well, you know very well that we did our part. The votes were there--though STOLEN by the machines you all have not considered worth talking about!!

As a human being, I can feel for you all. I imagine your wife and children begged you--there has been too much loss in their lives already.

But you have abandoned us, the women, the blacks, the poor, the middle class, the voters who stood in lines for hours, the hopes of all Americans. Why?

You SHOULD have made an issue of those machines!! You COULD have brought in the statisticians and political scientists to prove that WE, the VOTERS, were being robbed!

NOW we have "Democrats" like DeeDee Myers telling Matt Lauer that the Dems lost because we don't have moral values, or because we didn't bring the anti-war and veteran wings of the party together? Hogwash!! What a calumny on all the voters!! WE have the values, WE came together, WE had our votes stolen!! Not in Illinois where I live, thanks to Dave Orr and our Dem state legislature, and the results show it! But HOW can we EVER win in the red states if you allow them to vote on these machines!!

Omigod. They are going to kill us all. The Bush gang. They will. And YOU KNOW, YOU KNEW WHO you were running against when you went all out to beat the others! If Theresa was afraid to lose another husband to the Bush mafioso, then WHY did you run?!!

Abandoned. Alas. By every leader. And did Sen. Kennedy approve of this decision, too? I once worked for Sen Simon. He thought Iran/Contra was too hot, though I kept pushing him at the time. But YOU took them on. Oh, you did, you did, you did.

No men in America. No men left. My sweet clergyman husband--we watch as Bush destroys the churches. Well, we women need the muskets then.

Actually, there is one. Her name is Bev Harris.

Traitor.

32. My sign is staying UP. I am proud I voted for Kerry! He fought hard!
You people who are attacking Kerry could best use your energy for positive purposes. We have lots of work to do. Its just begun.

Maybe its for the best. Use this to start anew and energize people for justice, and to fight the fascism of the right.

To begin with, I'm already compiling a list of companies/businesses I know that are owned by people who support *. I will not buy anything from them. I will give any kind of support necessary to liberals and all others who realize that * is fascist. Yes, FASCIST.

The fight has only begun. We have economic power. I'm going to use it.

20. It remines me of a death in family, first......
there is denial, then grief, then exceptance. But that's death, no one died here, we been crushed but were alive,we can think feel react. We need to investigate, ask questions, get answers. If those answers are "something's rotten" then we mobilize and make it right. We can always impeach him!! The battle may be lost but not the war. Go through the pain, express your anger, but then get involved.

33. My letter to John Kerry
John Kerry:
I heard you conceded. I am so sorry about what happened. I regret every contribution I made, every rally I attended, every house party, phone call, EVERYTHING I did for you, now that you have Al Gored out on us. You said you were tough. You said you'd fight. You said you'd stand up for us. And you wimped out. Was this just a set-up for your Bones Buddy from the very start? I despise the way you lied to us and gave us false hope. Go home, count your inherited billions, get out of public life, and observe the effect on America.
Yours in disgust,
