NASA admin sean o'keefe to resign (character in wayne madsen story)
Edited on Sun Dec-12-04 10:00 PM by sympa
i don't think his role went beyond lobbying for Feeney inside NASA & campaigning for Feeney, but according to Madsen, he's a longtime friend of the VP.

here is the cnn article

http://www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/space/12/12/okeefe.resign/index.html

Madsen referred to O'Keefe in the twelfth paragraph in the following linked article

http://www.onlinejournal.com/Special_Reports/120604Madsen/120604madsen.html

not sure what significance this might have but i thought i'd put it up.

1. Madsen theorizes that O'Keefe may have been the $$ transfer guy
Edited on Sun Dec-12-04 09:53 PM by jamboi
that hid in his NASA budget the movement of money between NASA, Feeney and expatriot Russian programmers and techs in Houston (that had formerly been working w/ Enron). NOT a small character. A big character whose role hasn't been explored well yet.

5. he is resigning so that...
he's resigning so that he can be the chancellor at louisiana state university...
at least that's the reason given.
i'm interested to read more from mr madsen about o'keefe and i'm very interested about what mr madsen may be able to dig up about the resignation (if there is any significance)

thanks for clarifying his role for me jamboi.

7. jamboi, please ask Madsen
whether the fact that there is a mass exodus from upper levels of the FBI may provide new avenues for his investigation of election fraud.

Also ask him what he knows about Gary Webb. He was found dead purportedly self-inflicted wound: http://www.sacbee.com/content/news/story/11744167p-12630255c.html

Thanks

3. Bush fucked NASA, too.

Call it, "No Rocket Left Behind."

George did his best (very poor) JFK impersonation and said, "We're all gonna go to tha moon 'n' all... 'ventualy."

Sounds great, yes?

Something new and grand for NASA to shoot for?

Well, not really...

Because Bush never saw fit to actually give them the MONEY they need to do it.

So now NASA is scrapping programs left and right... we're even going to lose the Hubble telescope, all in the name of Bush's open-ended un-funded mandate.

Hubble casualty of Bush space plan

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Hubble Space Telescope will be allowed to degrade and eventually become useless, as NASA changes focus to President Bush's plans to send humans to the moon, Mars and beyond, officials said Friday.

NASA canceled all space shuttle servicing missions to the Hubble, which has revolutionized the study of astronomy with its striking images of the universe.

John Grunsfeld, NASA's chief scientist, said NASA administrator Sean O'Keefe made the decision to cancel the fifth space shuttle service mission to the Hubble when it became clear there was not enough time to conduct it before the shuttle is retired.

The servicing mission was considered essential to enable the orbiting telescope to continue to operate.

"This is a sad day," said Grunsfeld, but he said the decision "is the best thing for the space community."

He said the decision was influenced by President Bush's new space initiative, which calls for NASA to start developing the spacecraft and equipment for voyages to the moon and later to Mars. The president's plan also called for the space shuttle to be retired by 2010. Virtually all of the shuttle's remaining flights would be used to complete construction of the International Space Station.

NASA Can't Complete President's Moon, Mars Plan in Present State, Former Manager Says

Unless NASA changes the way it does business it will not likely achieve the goals set by President George W. Bush's space vision, a senior missile defense analyst said Thursday.

The space agency should take a page from the military in its approach to employee training and the improvement of communications between inter-agency centers in order to keep everyone on the same track, said Gary Payton, deputy of the Advanced Systems for the Pentagon's Missile Defense Agency,

"I think that NASA, in its current configuration, can't pull this job off," Payton said during a hearing before the President's Commission on the Implementation of United States Space Exploration Policy. "When I was there, NASA was made up of 11 different fiefdoms, each interested in their own legacy and history, each with its own liaison office that would often work without the cooperation of the national office."

The commission was appointed by President Bush to sketch out the requirements needed to refocus NASA and send humans to the moon, Mars and beyond. Today's hearings are being held at the Georgia Centers for Advanced Telecommunications Technology at Georgia Institute of Technology.

6. A very creepy guy
Just remember what an a-hole he seemed like during the NASA investigations of the last shuttle crash.
