Dear Drew,

With their victories in November, Republicans not only extended their control over the White House, but aggressively expanded their hold over both the Senate and the House of Representatives. As a result, the Washington Republicans are now in the best position they have ever been to pursue and put in place their extremist agenda -- an agenda that will place the needs of the special interests over the desires of the average American for a government that creates opportunity, fairness, and security.

Here are a few of the ways they're planning to threaten our basic rights:

* Shifting the tax burden to working families. They'll call it "reform," but they've got only one thing in mind: shifting the tax burden from the wealthiest Americans onto the backs of the lower- and middle-class taxpayers. They're already floating ideas like a national sales tax that will make average families pay more.
* Undermining Social Security. The Bush administration is gearing up to reintroduce its disastrous plan to undermine the retirement security of every single American. Their plan ensures a guaranteed benefit cut for all Americans and creates a new debt of one trillion dollars for our children and grandchildren.
* Packing the Supreme Court with extremists. This is the greatest danger to our fundamental constitutional rights that will affect all our lives for decades to come. A Supreme Court retirement could come at any moment, and three or more justices could retire over the course of Bush's term. If Bush nominates extremist judges to the nation's highest court for lifetime appointments -- as he has done with the lower courts -- all the rights we hold dear will be at risk.

The Democratic Party will be there to fight all of these battles. And we're depending on your help to win them. It is up to us to protect our values from the Republicans' attacks. They want to take a narrow election victory and cast it into a broad mandate for an extreme agenda.

In the coming weeks and months, we'll be telling you about what we're doing to win these fights, and how you are the key to helping us win.

Thank you,
Doug, Jesse, Nancy, Morra, and Eric
The DNC Internet Team

7. Do you feel as a team,
I mean the collective team under the democratic umbrella, its wise to fight internally after we took one in the chin? I mean, to use a football analogy, we lost the last 2 quarters and its half time. And instead of regrouping and discussing a winning strategy, we attack the starting team, the ones who got us this far. Lets face it boys and girls, we are the bench warms. We sit back and just bitch and moan. Maybe we should do less attacking and more working as a team.

Just my two cents.

Maybe I'm just over the edge, but the only thing I heard from these folks last year was poorly written dunning emails that were copied from the Dean campaign.

"Weeks and months"? What the f&ck are they doing about their supporters being disenfranchised TODAY?

Oh, yes. I'm there.

12. Cant even send reply to DNC: box appears "supply email addy, etc etc etc"
this is after i filled in all the fields .

tried it twice, gave up.

I dont think they want feedback.

They never even gave a "we will consider your feedback" note to me, back months ago when i did get email off to them via their form with umpteen fields to fill out.

BTW, my congressman requires NO fields... just has "write a message" page open up.

DNC should toss the umpteen fields if it wants feedback.

Dear Doug and all,

I've been working on the horrendous vote fraud since
11/3. After you cashed our check, where have you
been?

Frankly, with Pelosi and Reid pushing Roemer and your
near silence regarding the hundreds of thousands of
disenfranchised voters on 11/2, I can do better.

I can directly contribute to the GOP. At least then,
I'll be where there is real action, not reaction.

If you people don't come out of your bunker soon,
you'll find that the coalition we put together this
year has not only vanished, but your base has
"moved on" to a more productive venue. It may be too
late already.

Thousands of us are helping out the recounters in Ohio
who are being harrassed and impeded and even
threatened. Where are you? Thousands of us are
supporting Rep. Conyers, blasting the media, reaching
out to anyone we can. Where are you?

You all need a huge reality check.

14. Amen!! Voter Fraud Is The Issue!!
Done. I got the same email. Yet another reason why I'm a registered independent in FL, (but I worked extensively for Kerry).

More conceptual bla-bla-bla and promises for the future when we need to be organized and focussed on a street fight today! Not two years from now. Not Jan 20... NOW! I hope everyone here has signed at www.thepen.us/contest and told Conyers at House Judiciary and Rep. Maxine Waters (who has said she's going to contest) you're supporting them.

I've sent an email to Sen. Kerry asking him to be the 1 Senator that the House will need to contest the vote.

What do you think the odds of that are?

Any suggestions on who he should get to do it?

They obviously have their collective heads stuck up their a**es! Do you really think they don't know what they are doing? Please... They will just read and delete our emails and carry on with their day.

This is the type of activism they count on, so long as they know we are just EMAILING. They have no fear of us actually taking to the streets in great numbers.

Sorry, if I'm not going with the "flow" here but somebody needs to tell the truth!

...emailing

Forget going to some other site to "organize" their needs to be a real focus on protesting, right here at DU. We have more focus on emailing, however.

I have emailed enough... Time is UP! B* is tailoring his inauguration suit. The republicons are getting more arrogant by the minute and destroying evidence of fraud.

It's time to organize a massive protest right here at DU. Why do we have to go to another site to oraganize a massive protest, when the most passion about this issue, is here? IMO

On edit: fixed typo and added a question

37. I sent my response to the DNC:
Greetings Doug, Jesse, Nancy, Morra, and Eric
The Democratic Party was and is not "there for me" – you have refused to speak and act publicly about my values: Human Rights, Civil Rights, Women’s Rights, the right for every child to excellent public education, health care, freedom of religion (or no religion), freedom of association, no war, the right to vote and have that vote counted, etc.

And so I will not be available to help the DNC in any way. You lack teeth & spine, heart & soul. Mostly, you lack guts. My family, friends, neighbors and colleagues will fight the battle for democracy, freedom, civil rights, women’s rights, economic security, public education, the justice system, paper ballots, transparent elections, world peace, etc. without you, if we must. You are welcome to join us, though.

If we do not see ONE - that's all it takes - just one U.S. Senator stand and be counted with Rep. John Conyers and Rep. Jackson-Lee on January 6th, I assure you there will be more than a few former DNC members you will never see again. Not one dollar, not one penny and not a minute more of my time will be donated to the DNC. Prove to me that you have earned my loyalty and trust. Just prove it.

39. *Message to DNC* Put up OR shut up AND start packing - your time is up!
It is time to take risks in order to galvanize your core supporters in the grassroots.

Ignore us at your own peril.

If you think you are succeeding, then you should resign now, because you are blind to reality and are of no use to us in that capacity.

When we see our elected officials acting on our behalf, we will both recognize this and support this.

When we see our elected officials act against us, we shall both remember and take corrective measures.

There is nothing wrong with the DNC imposing either a litmus test on or carrying out a very forcible repsponse to any Public official who acts out of line with such a litmus test - let them never forget that they are merely instruments of our Democracy, and that they should be honored to carry out our agenda.

In fact, this is the only way that we can be sure to preserve our interests in society.

Any Democrat who acts against Democratic interests should immediately be barred from the party, rebuked publicly, and challenged vehemently in their next bid for public office.

When Americans can sleep at night without nightmares that their Democracy is on the verge of oblivion, that the middle class is being driven into poverty, that an illness can make them poor, that there are poor still among us in our own great nation, or that their elected officials neither care about these issues or will allow themselves to act on these concerns in order to stop the basis for Americans being haunted by them, then the DNC can pat itself on the back for a job well done.

To Whom It May Concern,

The most important issue to me at this moment is the enormous potential and likely occurence of fraud in the recent election. There were too many errors, too many glitches, and too much covering up, especially in Ohio. Secretary of State Blackwell has been extremely obstructionist while using PR to parade of facade of helpful and objective adherence to the law. If elections are stolen then it doesn't matter how much work is put into fighting for americans. If you want to support democracy, support election investigation, starting with Rep. Conyers, his few brave supporters, and the lawsuits they have filed. They also need more attention from the media. People would be furious if they knew the extent of the insecurity of our elections.

44. I am happy people are writing these bozo's, I'm one pissed off dem...
So I shared.

Dear Doug, Jesse, Nancy, Morra, and Eric, and all others,

In case you didn’t notice, it was the grassroots effort of people at my lowly level who got Kerry his record number of votes and his record campaign war chest. Sadly we can’t thank any of you for this. You did not show the leadership to actually pull that off on you own. No we have the efforts of Howard Dean, and the pure hatred of President Bush to thank for it all. We have you to thank for losses in the mid term elections of ‘94 and two failed Presidential elections. Bush light my ass.
The lowly people who gave record breaking small donations and registered record numbers of new democrats, who have sent hundreds and hundreds of emails to the deaf main stream media, made record numbers of swing state phone calls looking for every vote, and who now ‘fight for every vote’ in Ohio against Kenneth Blackwell, Diebold, ES and S, Triad etc, demand and have every right to a seat at the table of power and to the leadership of our choosing. The fight for values isn’t about you, the few powerful at the top. It’s about all of us. The lowly masses who demand the government be about and for the ‘people’. You talk to us like we are the second tier of your political mantel taking your cues. But you haven’t listened to us since ’94.

We don’t need to take cues from you. You need to take them from us. Or you can face the next election without us.

46. Sorry to be a downer
But many in the Democratic party believe 2004 lost and over, and are now focusing energy on how to defend what is left of the Constitution against an aggressive and all powerful fascist machine.

The work done HERE is what is turning the tide of this election, bit by bit, day by day. The Democratic Party didn't ask for the recount first because they thought it futile. Kerry didn't have some master plan after the election, YOU coaxed him out of hiding by piling enough circumstantial evidence for him to do something with. DUers, Air America, Palast, Bloggerman, et al.

You want the Democratic party more on board? Write and call your Congressmen and Senators, don't reply to an e-mail newsletter. I know my representatives are sick of hearing from me.

know where we'll find an ally.

I started feeding Olbermann on 11/4 because a friend of mine goes on his show, and we all really like Keith. And who knows how many other people did the same. And he picked it up.

Maybe "Doug" is just as p&ssed off as we are and looking for a reason to take something to his boss.

(And if I call Nancy Pelosi's office again, they may get a restraining order!)

53. Here's what I sent them - I'm mad as hell!!!
To the DNC,

To HELL with values, fight for our votes to be properly counted!!! This election was stolen by Republicans using unverifiable voting machines and if we don't contest this election, it's the END OF DEMOCRACY AS WE KNOW IT.

I will not give one more cent to the Democrats if you don't fight them tooth and nail on this beginning with Ohio and Florida. There is evidence of vote tampering across the country which, if investigated properly, would smash Bush's "mandate" to bits!!

Sincerely,
Concerned Citizen & Democrat

59. DNC says NO WIDESPREAD FRAUD
I called them last week -- then got called a troll here -- I talked to someone there for a long time. But the person I spoke to, when asked why they were so lethargic about the recount, said, because we don't see any evidence of widespread fraud.

Then I called Brazile and Associates. Sent her an e-mail. She got angry at me.

So. I wanted someone, anyone around the NY area, NJ, to go with me to see them at the DNC, with a compilation of the evidence collected from DU, and "'splain" it to them.

Got called names. Troll.

61. OK... I sent this to them
Dear DNC,

I have always been and I still am a registered Democrat. I voted for Kerry. I very much appreciated the letter from the DPO urging a full investigation of the 2004 election results but other than that I have seen nothing of substance from John Kerry or the Democratic party regarding this effort. The evidence of fraud in Ohio alone should be enough to take a stand. At least 15 other states also show evidence of massive fraud with the electronic voting machines and voter disenfranchisement.

In your last letter "fighting for our values" I find it disturbing that there is no mention of investigating election fraud and if you don't fight for my right to vote & it to be counted the rest of your claims of fighting for values are empty.

Either put up or shut up. You have one more week to prove you care. I expect that you will loose at least 20% of your base (including me) if you do not.

62. Here's what I just sent, should I have slept on it ?
How do we find ourselves in this situation.? How was our election and our right to cast our votes and have them be counted hijacked and stolen from us once again? Why do I have little or no faith that the Democratic party is doing something about this or ever will? What reason would I have, given the pathetic, and feeble response from the leaders of the Democratic party, the DNC, the DLC, and elected officials of the Democratic persuasion in the House and Senate, to entrust my vote ever again to the Democratic party? Why would I cast my ballot for a party that stands by and allows the obvious disenfranchisement and suppression of African American voters who have been their loyal base for decades? Will I cast my vote for the Democrats as I have done consistently for thirty years? Can I honestly tell myself that my party still stands for the people and protecting our democracy? Can you answer any of these questions for me? Can you help me explain away the disillusionment and utter despair I feel at the direction my beloved country has taken? What will the Democratic party do to prove that they are worthy of my continued loyalty?

So far I've seen nothing that would allow me to believe that the Democrats are going to fight for my family and fellow citizens of the US, fight for those of us who don't have any other avenues to power except our precious vote, no other voice in government except the voice we have through the integrity of our vote. I really don't know what else to say. Where are the Democrats? It can't all be explained away because you are the minority party, you just have to scream a lot louder to make yourselves heard. You won't achieve anything at this juncture by being Republican lite, return to being the party of the people or we will turn to a party that is. If we are going to lose, we might as well lose with our conscience intact, knowing that we've done everything in our power to affect change and fight back for what has been taken from us.

Make no mistake, the right-wing neo-cons that are determined to have one-party government and install a fascist corporatocracy to replace our democratic way of life, will stop at nothing to achieve their goals. What are you going to do about it? Cliche notwithstanding, 'if you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the problem.' Grow a set, fight for us, or become irrelevant. You're almost there anyway.

XXXXXXX
