Staples in Panic re- flood of PRO-Sinclair calls & e-mails -- ideas?
You may recall, Staples recently withdrew their advertising from Sinclair. I have it from reliable source that since then, Staples has received over 5,000 calls and e-mails protesting that decision, and their marketing folks are in complete panic.

Obviously, we cd mount a counter-counter e-mail campaign . . .

5. email even if you don't shop there
You can still help them reform their evil ways, even if you don't support them financially. :)

13. EXACTLY my concern
I think your proposed site is an EXCELLENT idea--exactly what's needed for this and other purposes. (Power to the people!)

If there's a way to do it legally, I think it would also be great if it had mechanisms for contributing $$ to various representatives and/or issues.

I assume you've seen the work in this thread:

Have those folks seen your idea?

16. No, I haven't.
Can you post a link to the proposal thread. I don't want to post myself as I don't want to run afoul of the spamming rule.

14. I was going to use this thread as an example of what I was talking
about in your other one. Everyone was on the same page when the Sinclair boycott was started, with everyone scattered it's harder to be only partly as effective. Maybe in the short term one of web pages that are already up can be decided upon as 'home base'. Would a poll of which board is visited most be helpful? What web page do you visit most for your dem/progressive information 1) moveon 2) DU, etc.

9. MoveOn and Freepress.net have gone after Sinclair
in the past. Perhaps one or both of them would do it again. Try also alternet.org.

17. I think someone needs to explain to Staples what "freeping" means.
Edited on Sat Jan-08-05 09:42 PM by Raksha
They might be big Republican donors, but they are probably unaware that right-wing zealots tend to gang up on polls, get personally involved in negative letter-writing campaigns, etc. in order to inflate the perception of their actual numbers. Those 5000 e-mails, faxes, etc. are NOT an accurate reflection of public opinion and could easily have been generated by 500 freepers all writing 10 letters apiece! Somebody needs to clue them in. Who knows? They might just decide to become Democratic donors!
