Amazingly positive editorial in the Cleveland Plain Dealer
Edited on Sun Jan-09-05 02:08 PM by Ojai Person
It doesn't seem to be getting much attention in editorials,

and it is too good for you all not to see:

Many Americans Refuse to Concede 'Stolen Election'
On Eve of Bush's Inauguration, Challenges Continue

While a two-hour debate raged on the floors of the U.S. House and Senate over the certification of the presidential election, more than 400 activists waited outside to learn which of their leaders would join their cause.

Under an overcast sky, the Rev. Jesse Jackson told the activists - still refusing to accept the results of the November election - not to be bitter.

As he spoke, many of them wept, because for some, the anger over what they refer to as "the stolen election" is precisely what won't let them let go.

It has been more than two months since President Bush declared victory. But the activists who assembled Thursday in Washington, D.C., and countless others across the country say they refuse to concede and have made investigating voter irregularities in Ohio their top priority - sometimes forsaking their livelihood or former selves.

7. Yes - they quoted it - and they all stopped short of the racist remarks
I watched the whole thing, heard the original editorial quoted twice, almost completely read once, and not even the Republicans would dare to include that one paragraph!

8. The paragraph "straight out of the bus terminal toilet" as one DU'er so
succinctly put it.

12. This one from the original, nasty, racist editorial in The Plain Dealer
before 1/4, which was quoted as "evidence" by the two Ohio Senators.

They didn't dare quote this paragraph on the floor of the Senate:

"But for two national figures whose constituencies are among the poorest of the poor, it seems an embarrassing waste of energies sorely needed elsewhere. Fold your mildewed tents, collect your soggy cardboard and focus on the poverty, single-parenthood and dropout rates that have so impoverished those in whose names you protest too much. Good causes await your serious advocacy. And what you are doing now isn't serious."

From Memo to Rev. Jackson and Rep. Tubbs-Jones

19. Oh, my God...
...that's despicable. Even without reading that part, though, their racism came through loud and clear. I was amazed that they would have the gall to stand up and spout such venom ... although I guess I shouldn't be surprised at this point.

11. Just in case anyone missed the first editorial - here's the link
At least the positive editorial had a writer's name attached to it. And it looks like it was written in answer to the first. The original editorial has none, which leads one to believe it's the editor in chief of the paper.

============================================================
And here's their ignorant quote about Jackson and Tubbs-Jones:

"Americans treasure the right to be loudly mistaken -- a right you now freely exercise. But for two national figures whose constituencies are among the poorest of the poor, it seems an embarrassing waste of energies sorely needed elsewhere. Fold your mildewed tents, collect your soggy cardboard and focus on the poverty, single-parenthood and dropout rates that have so impoverished those in whose names you protest too much. Good causes await your serious advocacy. And what you are doing now isn't serious."

5. Wow! What a reversal of positions!
This gives me hope that the Thugs have really screwed themselves with their remarks. More and more articles like this and questions and polls are being seen by previously apathetic voters. :toast:

17. Not a reversal--this is an op-ed
NOT an editorial. People often overlook that distinction.

13. Write the reporter a thank you note.
Just a reminder, the reporter probably would love
to have a nice note sent to them.

18. And now the brown-shirts start their terror. History is bound to repeat
itself.
Ohio citizen Prof. Tracy Wallach was arrested by Capitol Police upon leaving the public gallery.

21. OMG!
I nearly fell out of my chair. But,still, I have questions about the reversal of how they have chosen to speak about the topic. True, this was an article by a reporter, the last piece of filth was an OP ED piece. I can't help but wonder if they have come to realize, through help from the community, how inciteful their racist OP ED piece was? Is this just CYA? Or perhaps they were pressured early on to remain silent, allowing only one anonymous, well timed, bias remark to be made on the subject.

Regardless, the article was FABULOUS! I gives much hope that the word is getting out there, and our credibility is going through the roof.

Thank you, Ojai, you have made my morning:thumbsup:
