My mom is not a US citizen but has voted for years
If I'd known this I would have said something earlier, but I didn't even realize until yesterday that she was still technically a German citizen. This came up only nc she had to get her green card renewed, she's lived here for 40+ years and has voted for as long as I've known her (I'm 33), and I'm sure she voted for Dino Rossi, so...I wonder how many other people vote that aren't technically US citizens? Maybe that is something the Gregoire team can run with?

2. I love my mom dearly, but sometimes toughlove is necessary:)
I don't think she'd go to jail, she just couldn't vote anymore, and that wouldn't be so bad, one less vote for the rethugs. There is now way in hell I can stand for that slimebag Rossi to slither his way into leading my state.

4. On the flip side, many U.S. citizens have dual citizenships and can
legally vote in both the U.S. and another country, e.g. Mexico, Israel. Google "Dual citizenship" and "vote" and read about the problem.

5. She may encounter some problems.
I've worked in the immigration law field for 20 years. Your Mom has been committing a felony since 1996. I don't want to be alarmist, but your mother needs to see an attorney.

It gets worse. Implementation of Real ID will require that she provide proof of her status in the US when she goes to renew her driver's license. The fact that she's an LPR will go into a public database that's accessible by both parties. She may get purged from the poll lists. There is the possibility that the Immigration authorities and US Attorney could find out, and she could be deported if she were convicted.

The revised naturalization form (N-400) asks whether she has ever claimed US citizenship. She risks being arrested by the Immigration Service if she now applies for citizenship.

I'm sorry to have to break this to you, but you need to talk to your mom and get her an appointment with a good immigration attorney.
