I got this email from MoveOn.org:
Time and again, MoveOn members rank election integrity as a top priority. There are lots of ways to make our elections more secure and fair, so we're asking a small sample of members to help decide what we should focus on.
Can you take this short survey today? (link)
In 2005, MoveOn members made great progress on election integrity. The highlights are:
We advocated nationally for paper records. Thousands of MoveOn members called Congress seeking to make sure every vote is recorded securely and accurately. Hundreds met with Congressional representatives face to face. Our efforts helped add 24 new co-sponsors to this crucial legislation, but it hasn't passed yet. We'll continue to put on pressure in 2006.
In North Carolina, Colorado, Hawaii, Connecticut, and California, we won legislation requiring electronic voting machines to print paper records. Phone calls by MoveOn members played a big role in these victories—showing legislators that the public was watching. This year, 19 more states required a paper record of every vote, bringing the total to 27. More than half the states now guarantee reliable voting machines.
In Connecticut, members helped pass the most sweeping campaign finance reform in the nation's history, setting a new standard for fighting corruption. We worked closely with groups like Public Campaign and Common Cause to add pressure at key moments.
In Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Virginia, members are successfully beating back Republican efforts to make voting harder for people of color, elderly, disabled, and low-income voters. Members have stopped provisions requiring every voter to have a photo ID and disenfranchising former prisoners who've served their time.
In Ohio, we supported investigations into voting machine discrepancies. Member donations funded legal action that dug up secret electronic voting machine records and paper documents to compare them to and supported a national voting machine expert in analyzing the data. This analysis is being used to fight for accountable voting machines for next time.
My response (they only gave me one 4" long line in which to type my answer so it is rather "stream of consciousness):
IMMEDIATE NATIONAL EDUCATION campaign explaining the MANY ways in which fraud has occurred in 2000, 2002, 2004 so that many different groups will be inspired to act. (If Reagan's Sec of Treasury, Paul Craig Roberts, can write about the theft of Presidential Election 2004 - so can MoveOn.org!) Fund local groups who will host educational events, mail pamphlets, create and air commercials so that voters know their rights and know what to look out for.
FUND POLLS by a reputable, independent company across the nation before, during, and after the election (contact Steve Freeman at Univ Penn!).
Fund and publicize the work of teams of LAWYERS (Paul Lehto) and COMPUTER SECURITY SPECIALISTS (Avi Rubin, Rebecca Mercuri, Chuck Herrin) and citizens who are fighting election fraud.
Support minorities across the nation who are disenfranchised election after election - African Americans, Native Americans,...
BUY MARK CRISPIN MILLER TV TIME to explain what has happened to our elections.
VOTER-VERIFIED PAPER BALLOTS don't mean *squat* unless all elections are audited (A random 10% of all precincts recounted in each country across the nation irregardless of the 'outcome' of the election. An election result does *not* have to be close to be stolen. It is *just* as easy to change 70% to 30% as it is to change 48% to 52%.)
FOR DEMOCRACY'S SAKE - whatever you do, do it LOUD and do it NOW!! If we have 2006 elections stolen out from under us we will have passed a point after which there is *no* return in this nation.
We've got to get the DNC to take this on - the next time an election is stolen the candidate needs 1,000 Dems standing right behind him/her until all questions are answered; all issues resolved. I do *not* want to belong to a party that strong arms election results - I just want ONE PERSON, ONE VOTE, fairly counted. Please now, please now, please now, please now - I have been screaming about this since November 3, 2004 when I was awoken to the situation with a sledgehammer. I tried to get your attention. I emailed Eli Pariser directly (a friend had his email). Nothing. Betrayal.
Hooks you now have: The GOP *is* the culture of corruption. How has Abramoff money been used to steal elections? Has the NSA been involved - why the Homeland Security Alert in Warren County, Ohio in 2004? Stealing elections "for the greater good" is now the ethic of the GOP, most GOP citizens are honest as the day is long. Many think they are just playing "hardball." Others have been College Republicans who are taught in seminars how to win elections by making it hard for people to vote. ES&S; Diebold; Sequoia are Republican-owned, controlled.
Contact Chuck Herrin - Republican White-Hat Security specialist for help learning how bad the situation is and what we can do about it.
Sorry this isn't well organized - it's hard to type an essay in one 4" box.
THANK YOU FOR ASKING!!! IndyOp
By the way, I drove to Indy last Friday and dropped off petitions/letters to stop Alito - Bayh's staff seemed *happy* to see me.
What do you think?
