3. You don't think
Multnomah county is a shoe in for Kerry? I would think that Lake-no-***** aside, Portland alone would carry that county.

24. You may get another family from Virginia ...
If there is any hopeful employment prospects. I'm so damn tired of living in this right-wing haven. Had my windshield splattered with red ink at the polling place. Not sure if it was the "Veterans for Kerry" or the "Veterans for Peace" sticker that set the freepers off. No, come to think about it, it was the latter sticker - "PEACE" is a dirty word for all these Military Contractor belt-way bandits in Northern Virginia. Thank goodness for the small refuge group of our local Democrats. :-)

10. Thanks IMSA
That is what I thought. Makes me homesick for my old apt. in NW portland. (tear falls). :)

I am so proud. Both of the states I considered home - NY and Oregon have gone Blue and even my new home - CT is right there too.

Hey! I don't live "just anywhere" you know! ;) LOL!

8. Goddess -- I love the west coast!!
For awhile there some of the pundits were saying that Oregon could go to *ush -- but that is so hard to believe. Oregonians are so much smarter than to give their electoral votes for bush.

17. Unofficial oregon elections results webpage
http://egov.sos.state.or.us/results/2004_G100_all_results.htm

We're going blue baby! Huge lines at the Multnomah county elections office of people waiting to get a ballot.

The elections office is saying that they will stay until 2am if they have to so that everyone gets a chance to cast their ballot.

18. Unfortunately
It looks like Measure 37 is passing, if it does, it is the end of Oregon as we know and love it, we'll look like every other state in a couple of years, strip malls and subdivisions from border to border.

It's hard to believe that folks would vote for something that will knock 20-30 percent off the value of their homes, but nothing surprises me tonight.

23. Measure 37
Says that if a government regulation reduces the value of your land it has to pay you the difference or remove the rule.

For example, if land is zoned agricultural, you could file for a claim for the difference in value between a subdivision and a farm, say a factor of ten-fold in value. Or, if you wanted to put a factory or a mall up, same thing. Of course, there's no consideration of regulations that increase the value of your property...

The timber companies would be able to develop all those hillsides into subdivisions, much more profitable than trees, they were the prime movers behind the measure. We can still hope Multnomah and Lane can pull it out.
