The Center for American Progress, along with Public Campaign and Common Cause, will be holding a forum: Fair Elections Now Act and Citizens United: The Future of Participatory Democracy, Friday morning, December 4th, 8:45-9:30 A.M. Eastern Standard Time (so, 5:45 AM on the west coast).

Assistant Senate Majority Leader Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and House Democratic Caucus Chair John Larson (D-Conn.) will hold a discussion on the pending Supreme Court case, Citizens United v. FEC, its impact on participatory democracy, and the need for the Fair Elections Now Act (S. 752, H.R. 1826).

As of today, the Fair Elections Now Act has 120 sponsors/co-sponsors in the House. Eleven more would constitute a majority of the Democratic caucus of the House - sufficient to convince Speaker Nancy Pelosi that the proposal is worth serious consideration and scheduling for action. Details here.

From Washington state, Reps Adam Smith and Jim McDermott have signed on as co-sponsors of the bill. What about the rest of them? Perhaps they need to hear more from grassroots constituents!
