John Edwards, Please do not abandon your people

We need for you to come forward and fight beside us, for our people and our country, for the mill worker, and the steel worker, and the small business owner who depends on selling to the mill worker and the steel worker, for the children and the collage students, for National Guardsman, soldiers and sailors and their families, for the scientists and engineers, for freedom of religion and freedom from Religion, and for the very core of our democracy, the right not to just vote, but to have our vote counted.

Come fight with us John. Your are our HOPE.

I know that Elizabeth is sick, and that you have other things on your mind. If I could take her disease upon me and leave her free to fight I would in a heartbeat. But ask her, I have the impression that she has the fighting spirit of El Cid. I think it would be good medicine for Elizabeth's morale that you to do something about this stolen election .

An Explanation of why we have gone as far as we can go on our own:

We have had a judge deny a Green Party suit requesting an expedited count so that the count would be finished before the Ohio Electors are chosen because the Green Party Candidate could not show harm due to a late recount result because there is no foreseeable outcome of the recount which would reverse his loss.

Another ruling by a state judge blocked the recount in Delaware County as frivolous.

If Edwards would sign on as a plaintiff, those arguments would be invalid.

I believe that John Edwards would have the same standing and John Kerry and could help get a court order to expedite the Ohio Count.

They can't count the votes for JE without counting the votes for JK as well.

First, I want to thank each of you for the support you have given to John Kerry and John Edwards. You gave it in a thousand ways: coming to our events, volunteering to set up and clean up, working the phone banks, knocking on doors, contributing, blogging, standing on corners with signs, whatever it took. Your strength carried us through.

You may have heard that I have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Your strength is carrying my family through too in this latest struggle, and this is a fight we will win. We have (and I say we because John has been with me every minute) started chemotherapy with tremendous confidence, confidence in our doctors, in our ability to face obstacles, and in our friends far and near who we know give us their thoughts and prayers and support today and will continue to do so in the months ahead.

So many of you have tried to reach me recently with your support, and I know that the Senate office and the Wade Edwards Learning Lab have been flooded with calls and e-mails. No complaints there, but in order to take a little pressure off of them, I have resurrected my old e-mail address at [e-mail], where you can reach me. I will e-mail periodic updates to you about my progress from there, if you would be interested in getting those. Treatment should last until about next June with follow-ups every three months or so.
