Randi Rhodes said "It's Over" ??
Tonight, my best friend told me that she was listening to Randi, and Randi said "Give it up, we lost---the Election is over"
Did anyone else hear this?
I'm really depressed---Does anyone know where we stand now?

4. Wednesday she was trying not to "dampen the holiday spirit"
so wasn't talking about vote fraud in the US. However, she made a big deal out of the Ukraine "irregularities".

6. She was being sarcastic....
Edited on Sun Nov-28-04 02:52 AM by BrklynLiberal
and describing all the details of voter fraud....and then saying, oh by the way...that was all in the Ukraine, not here.
The papers were talking about it, the Republicans were discussing it..but that was the Ukraine, not here.

7. She would have to be dead
before she said that. I'm from S. Fla, and that would never happen. It hasn't happened since 2000, why now. Please, breathe. It's ok.

8. I needed to hear
all this.
My friend is as liberal as they come, yet when I try to tell her that we have to fight, and that we are making progress, I get the feeling she thinks I've lost it.
In fact, every Democrat I know is resigned for 4 more years of hell.
If it wasn't for DU, I'd lose my mind--I am so grateful to have found you.

11. I listen to her extensively and I never heard her say that.
On Wednesday she concentrated on voter fraud in the Ukraine. The last part of her show must have been dedicated to it. She kept replacing the the US with Ukraine in describing incidents here. It was very funny, yet also heartbreaking.

BTW... has anyone else had the feeling that Randi knows something about the voter fraud issue than we don't? It seems that she gets very quiet about it at times and doesn't want to discuss certain things. On Wednesday, Andy who works for Bev Harris called in, and she said she didn't want to talk to him on the air, and asked that he call her at home.

Randi said something on the show before Thanksgiving I missed that part of the show but I read in the RR discussion board someone said that she said to someone that called in from FL. She could not talk about it call her at home.

Check this link for more on that

14. It was Andy from Black Box Voting
I believe it was in the last hour that he called in.

This is the link to the archive for that show:

As I said in my earlier post, a good part of the show was dedicated to "not discussing" voter fraud here, and instead the voter fraud in the Ukraine. She was hysterical, brilliant really, and the whole show is worth listening to.

13. Give up what exactly anyway?
Kerry is a mystery to put it too kindly. Every word or glimpse or adviser or family member shows a) they never got the attacks on election integrity b) have not only accepted the loss but the main memes. The ex-Clinton adviser(too many old "pros" on Kerry's bloated campaign staff) talking to an equally clueless Franken are mystified but accepting of poll discrepancies and utterly convinced they can't, did not, "win". ????

No one even makes an effort to describe or look at that rambunctious "blogosphere" which is NOT what all the volunteers on the ground are, merely where we go to find action and real news.

If WE give up, we who see the abysmal shame of this rigged election game and the death of democracy, that is the tragedy. If our "leaders" and pundits want to move on into myths and despair and slavery we certainly can give them up as allies in this fight.

Deliver countable votes for Kerry? Man, people here and there tried to warn our vaunted pros that wasn't going to happen. That was the whole point and they missed it, deliberately, with pride and prejudice, and now want to close the gameboard and wait until "next time" when it will be inconceivably worse. They look at you bored, wounded as if you are mad for challenging the rules of the game, a game that has nothing to do with our rights and freedoms. A game that proves them empty of competency or mission or reality as American citizens.

They got lost, they can stay there. The last of the Americans are at least going to light up the torch and burn this fog away. And they can screw their games and myths that void of the Declaration of Independence and soon to be voided of the Constitution for the sake of media peace of mind, and more people will die stupidly for the profit of pitless and insane scoundrels. Scoundrels, the Washington crowd sometimes loves to have tea and cookies with as we go broke, sicken and die without representation.

The clock is ticking on the relevancy of the current Democratic leadership and it looks no more promising as of yet than Ken Blackwell's dedication to honesty and democracy. To level with the American people, it would be requisite to at least have the TRUTH. I don't know if we are going to get anything for the grand anticlimax of "hope is on the way". On the way to democracy's easy grave?

We can lead if we have to. And they can damn well follow or vacate the premises.

15. Excellent post, thanks Patrick
love your line-- "the pundits want to move on into myths and despair and slavery..."

--and also-- "they want to close the gameboard" -- says it all to me.

-------------------
IF ANYBODY NEEDS A LEGAL PERSPECTIVE:

I got a big boost also from the DU thread "DEAN AT YALE LAW SAYS VALIDATE THE VOTE." --see page 1 this forum. (Article Nov 26, 2004 The Baltimore Sun).

Dean Ian H. Solomon writes, "the legitimacy of our democratic process is an issue more important than Mr. Kerry's future or the results of 2004." And then he details many of the reasons that we all know by heart now. It's really a strong statement--glad it got out in MSM.

I'm going to keep a copy of your statement (this post) Patrick, next to that letter of Solomon's, as my Shrine of Hope for Truth and Sanity... I will read them whenever I feel in need of energy and focus. You are right, we cannot rollover and play dead on this one. We cannot doubt ourselves.

16. I listen to Randi every day for the entire show.
Edited on Sun Nov-28-04 01:06 PM by bunny planet
She did say 'it's over' but she was not referring to the contesting of the election being over. She was saying that our democracy is over if Bush is not removed. She still thinks we can and must fight to get him removed, either before the 2nd coronation or after, by proving that there was fraud or illegal suppression of voting rights. Randi said this on an earlier show, can't remember which day of course, but not on the pre-Thanksgiving Ukranian satire show.
