Really, really good. I love the details and her characters are a scream...

Haven't read "Hard Laughter" however. Have you read "Bird by Bird"? I thoroughly enjoyed that one. I was lucky enough to see her speak at a local college. She's a character herself.

On the thread asking for funny books!

Operating Instructions is hysterical and Traveling Mercies is my favorite. I could listen to Anne Lamott talk all day..... I have seen her several times on Book TV.

but I haven't read her fiction.

I've used her advice in Bird by Bird in my own writing though. She's wonderful. I've been meaning to read her fiction for years. Thanks for recommendation!
