"Octo-Mom" Could Have TV Deal By End of Next Week......
"Are you ready for an "Octo-Mom" reality show?

Nadya Suleman could have a TV deal "by the end of the week," her lawyer, Jeff Czech, told Us. The "Octo-Mom" met with four production companies this week to explore creating a reality show about life with her 14 children. "Nadya has been interested in, and hoping to find, something not so intrusive to the family and babies while, at the same time, sort of focus on trying to make a little income for herself," he said.

While no deal has been inked yet, potential Octo-Shows include full-length documentaries as well as traditional reality shows, Czech said. Viewers could catch a glimpse of her daily life, such as "Nadya dating, taking the kids to birthday parties, learning how to drive a 14-person van," he added.

Suleman has been in the public eye since giving birth to eight children in January. She has suffered financial woes, and has been taking donations and, briefly, free childcare, to help support her burgeoning family."

1. Well, if it means the network pays to raise her kids instead of us, it could be worse
(No slight intended to normal single mothers. This person is in a whole different category.)

20. Yes, another nutbag will find a doctor to implant 10 embryos.
Come one, when will we stop giving lunatics that need to be getting psychological help, a platform to exploit their children and insanity?

22. Well, she probably does need psychological help
But perhaps this show will lead to her getting it. For all we know, the network could decide to make that a part of the show.

And nutbags will try to get embryo implants or engage in other irrational behavior whether or not there's television.

Compared to the wars we're in and the state of the economy, this is a pretty minor problem.

she needs psychological help, but what really blows me away is that she got a goddam degree in child development!! she must be a very persuasive person.

Edited on Sat Apr-11-09 10:13 PM by smalll
I can guess it will have a veneer of John and Kate plus 8 -- lets watch people raise bunches of kids at once, parenting, etc -- but it will really be about how crazy she is. It will be a train wreck on purpose from the producers, I would guess.

10. reality shows get more and more evil
they've gone beyond exposing stupidity; now they revel in it like a dog rolling around on a dead woodchuck

and Octo-mom getting her own show is a prime example of that. Rewarding bad behavior seems to be an ever growing trend here in the US. :puke:

A mother from wackville in an asylum full of screaming toddlers is what people want to see.

Should be easy for the court to declare her insane or unfit to parent if they go thru with it.

23. i'll never watch it
and i'm (unfortunately) prone to watching these train wreck reality shows. jon and kate gosselin, their greed, and exploitation of their 'tups soured me on the mega-family shows. TLC should be slapped down for these shows, and what better way than to refuse to watch them?

Jon and Kate Plus 8 and figures that before long she, too, will be living in lavish digs in exchange for allowing cameras to follow her and her children around. Exploiting one's offspring for profit. It's potentially very lucrative and she knows it. It's criminal that her kids will have no say. California law protects child actors in terms of hours and working conditions. It will be interesting to see if the laws apply in the case of children working on a so-called "reality" show.

On edit, there's an interesting post from an attorney over at Gosselinswithoutpity, an anti-Jon and Kate site. Apparently California has stiff regulations regarding the use of children on reality shows. Look for Octo-mom to announce she's moving to another state before filming begins.

and that would have been ever so much better.

27. Yes, there would in that case be 14 adults available for care instead of one.
That's a much better adult to child ratio, 1:1 instead of 1:14.

And if not available for care, then legally responsible for support.

One parent with 14 kids, guaranteed mess for the kids and absurd costs to others. It's so wrong on so many levels.

31. I know someone with nearly that excessive a record
I think he's insane for doing that but he has been a pretty good father figure/provider to most if not all of them. Still not good for the kids obviously but he does more than some in similar circumstances; and he never peddled them on TV at least.

29. The best of luck to the kids. These things are so short
lived. There's an over saturation in the market for these kind of shows. It won't last long but this woman's mental health will be a continued problem for all of those children. Especially if she has more kids.

Don't give me any bullshit about how you care about the children, either. I never see anyone say they want CPS to take away the Duggar kids, or for the "clown car vagina" to be sewn shut. We know why that is...don't we?

34. I've posted often that she is bat shit crazy and CPS needs to take those kids...
...and find loving, sane, permanent homes for them.

I had hoped they'd never be sent home to her.

Their rights have been discarded over the rights of the crazy woman who calls herself a "mom".
