Seems like there are some serious Christians out there who don't see a small minority of non-Christians having rights in the USA as being Christian persecution, and they made up a list of the 50 worst persecutors of Christians in the World. Seems some of our most important allies in the Muslim world score pretty high on the list: Saudi Arabia comes in as the no. 2 oppressor of Christians, while Aghanistan comes in as no. 10.

1. Double standards are such a gas.
I suppose that as long as they have the oil and are willing to give it, they're our friends. :puke:

2. Saudi Arabia also persecutes other Muslims
only the one sect (Wahhabi) of Islam is allowed to be practiced there. I once considered going to SA to teach oil workers' children until I found out they persecute Sufis for meeting and doing zkr.

3. In some of the countries "persecution" is the right word.
Seriously. Persecution for blasphemy in Pakistan, being sent to prison if your sect and its doctrines (and preachers) aren't vetted by the Party, killed because the enemy is Christian so you must be working in cahoots with them, not being allowed to repair a decrepit church because the local mosque won't say yes or a woman from your community's is kidnapped and "converted" only to be threatened with death if she goes back to their families and "unconvert".

In Malaysia there's a famous case where a woman converted to Hinduism and changed her name; she got married, but since she's registered (from birth) as a Muslim and her husband was Hindu, it's not a legally recognized marriage. Then her baby is taken away to be raised by the woman's grandmother because it's being raised Hindu ... a Muslim woman must raise her kid Muslim. She was sent to a camp to "revert" and refused to. You see, it's illegal to convert from being a Muslim.

In any event, while this group sounds strongly evangelical, it doesn't sound in the least fundamentalist. Not all Xians want to impose canon law on non-Xians.
