Top Ten Instances of Christian Bashing
Straight from the Christian Anti-Defamation Commission:

http://www.christiannewswire.com/news/437499077.html
"It is time for the Christian bashing to stop and for Christians to no longer be treated like second-class citizens,"

Really? Second-class citizens? 75%-80% of the US population is treated like second-class citizens?

Some highlights from the list.
INSTANCE #3: Barack Obama Defames Christianity

According to research into President Elect Obama's own statements about faith, and an examination of Obama's position on moral issues, CADC has determined that by any biblical and historic Christian standard, Barack Obama is not a Christian, although he claims he is a "devout Christian."

Wow! Who knew that holding Christian beliefs constitutes a defamation of the religion?

BONUS INSTANCE: Senator Grassley's Abuse of Power

US Senator Grassley, a member of the powerful Senate Finance Committee, has demanded the financial records of a number of very prominent conservative, evangelical broadcast ministries. The demand was based on Grassley's concern that these ministries are not spending their contributions properly. Grassley has admitted his concerns were in part driven by media accounts.

For those who weren't aware, Sen. Grassley (R-Iowa) was concerned that some televangelists were profiting from church contributions--essentially stealing donated money. The televangelists sent financial records to clear themselves of wrongdoing and Grassley seems to have dropped the issue. Oh, Sen. Grassley is a member of 'The Family' and is by all accounts, Christian. Does this mean that he was treating himself like a second-class citizen?

6. "Protecting the body of Christ from the rot within"
Amazing how they can always justify atrocity.

I'd have a lot more sympathy for these Christians trying to crawl up on the cross if they'd worried more about their own blasphemers trying to take control of the word "Christian."

The people who wrote the above sure as hell never read that book they're throwing at the rest of us.

2. These people got to make up a persecution so they can be Jesus- like
So like if you got to wait an extra half hour in the doctor's office, you are a persecuted christian just like Jesus. DOn't worry about the folks that are dying in the street because they can't afford to see s doc nor do they have insurance. For those folks that is a lifestyle choice.

3. For these people, less than 1% are really Christians, so
it's easy to feel discrimated against.

You may think you are a Christian, but these folks will tell you you're not. Only they, and their cosectarians are Christians. It's a moving target, depending on which sect is speaking.

Less than 1% of those who think they are Christian really are.

5. Jebus told them they'd be persecuted
Matthew 5:10-12:

5:10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

For many Christians, being persecuted is an important part of their mythology and identity, and it's right there in the bible. When there's no real persecution, they need to invent some.

12. "Christian" is a term with many definitions and meanings.
Edited on Wed Jan-07-09 09:11 AM by kwassa
and in this groups very narrow definition using their own criteria, Obama is not a Christian.

Who cares? Who ever heard of these self-appointed watchdogs?

Just some fundies seeking publicity. Listen to this looniness.

http://www.christianadc.org/resources

There is a spiritual emergency in America.

Barack Obama is in the process of trying to recreate the Christian faith in his own, very liberal and unorthodox image.

Built on a foundation of radical Black Liberation Theology, theological liberalism and post-modernism, Obama is undermining historic, biblical Christianity while claiming his is a Christian.

In the process, he is defaming the Christian faith.

By declaring he is a Christian, yet denying Christianities most essential truths and traditional morality, Obama is associating Christ with some of the most wicked practices imaginable, all of which are condemned in the Bible.

By any historic or biblical standard, Barack Obama is not a Christian.

My use of boldface to emphasize their philosophy.

14. The kind of Christianity
practiced by most "christians" has nothing to do with faith and everything to do with power. In a time when every human impulse is turned into the source of a revenue stream, is it any wonder that religion is a prime target for profit from those whose rationality is suspended? It's largely just another ponzi scheme. Do the members of the herd know they are members of a herd? Give it time, they will grow unbelievably corrupt and then flame out just like every large religion since the axial age.

18. The real crazy is their seven reasons why Obama is not Christian.
Reason #1: Obama Believes There Are Many Paths to Heaven
(They say that no Christian should ever believe that non Christians go to heaven.)

Reason #2: Obama Denies the Authority of the Bible
(They say that no Christian should ever doubt that the Bible is the infallible word of God.)

Reason #3: Obama Supports Homosexuality
(Why this isn't reason #1 for them is beyond me.)

Reason #4: Obama Supports Abortion
(I stand corrected. Why this isn't reason #1 for them is beyond me.)

Reason #5: Obama Affirms Muslim Prayer
(They say that since Obama enjoyed the sound of an evening prayer, he affirms the authority of Islamic beliefs.)

Reason #6: Obama is Associated with Black Liberation Theology
(Rev. Wright blah blah blah...)

Reason #7: Obama Has No Bona Fide Christian Testimony
(This is actually just a retelling of reason #1)

I have seen far more examples of Christians "dishing it out" than I have ever seen or heard them being on the recieving end.

"It is time for the Christian bashing to stop and for Christians to no longer be treated like second-class citizens," What the fuck ever.

Ah, the majority of those who call themselves such, are not at all xtian. They are the most bigoted, hateful and greedy bastards one could ever know and use that 'title' to get away with murder.
