Crazy things being preached by Evangelicals
I was looking through sermons and found this so very crazy, It is about President Obama this man claims that Obama did incantations and healings at campaign rallies

1. Crazy things being preached by Evangelicals
I posted this because It scares me that people would actually believe this kind of thing and could possibly act upon it

2. was asked to review a book
about lyme Disease. It was a novel that said the illenss was hatched in the government labs. The tale winds on and concludes with millions sick with it, but it is a joyful experience for end time believers because it confirms their beliefs.
I turned it down, but what a bunch of sickos. Seriously. This is mental illness and a sick soul that spouts this stuff. They find joy in others' suffering because they are sure they will be "saved."

my understanding why these people are so intent on labeling Obama the "anti". He's a self proclaimed Christian!
Perhaps they have a problem with his church. Smells like racism to me.

I read and read one particular site claiming that Obama used hypnosis techniques. They went on endlessly describing "hypnosis techniques", but NEVER got to the point of exactly HOW Obama used them!

It's lunacy.

Furthermore, these are the very same people who are convinced that Bush is a Christian! He never claimed to be, and surely never acted like anything of the sort.

6. Of course Bush claimed to be a Christian
Many times. Whether his behavior can be considered "Christian" is another matter, but he was a declared follower of the Christ.

7. That isn't what I read.

Can you find a direct quote? It was more a matter of misleading and not correcting a misunderstanding.
The only thing I've ever read was that when asked, he answered, "If you're asking if I've been 'born again', the answer is 'yes'." Skull and Bones has a coffin ceremony where they are 'born again'.

edit to add:

If you believe these are Bush's words, you haven't heard him speak:

8. One of the things

that got him the Republican nomination and eventually the Presidency was his tale of redemption from 40 year old wastrel to God-fearing adult at the hands of Jesus (with Special Guest Star Billy Graham). He and Karl flogged that story endlessly in 1999-2000. The wingers and the piously dense* lapped it up.
Over the course of that weekend, Reverend Graham planted a mustard seed in my soul, a seed that grew over the next year. He led me to the path and I began walking. And it was the beginning of a change in my life. I had always been a religious person, had regularly attended church, even taught Sunday school and served as an altar boy. But that weekend my faith took on a new meaning. It was the beginning of a new walk where I would recommit my heart to Jesus Christ.

I was humbled to learn that God sent His Son to die for a sinner like me. I was comforted to know that through the Son, I could find God's amazing grace, a grace that crosses every border, every barrier and is open to everyone. Through the love of Christ's life, I could understand the life-changing powers of faith.

* meaning the fools whose overriding criteria was only that their candidate make the proper Man o' God noises. Suckers, in other words.

And, I maintain those are not the words of George Walker Bush. Just more lies.

The basic point is, the RW extremists believe the lies of GW but not the truth of Obama.

10. No, the basic point
was whether he claimed to be a Christian. He did. His whole first campaign was God-soaked. And that bullshit story in a book with his name on the cover, ghost-written though it may be, is one of his assertions of Christianity.

11. The way
I see it is that he allowed the lie to be spread, and never personally (without ghost writers and/or Rove) made any such confirmation.

12. A book with "by Why Syzygy" on the cover
would be expression of your sentiments, even if you didn't write it. If it said "I am mad for Disco", then you've publically declared your fondness for bad music.

But again, if you'd remember his first campaign, the come-to-Christ story was a regular part of his schtick, invoked so often it was tiresome. He REALLY wanted the fundie vote and wasn't going to let someone else out-Jesus him (remember, Keyes and Bauer were in that bunch).

When the candidates were asked to name the philosopher who most influenced them, Dimbulb blurted, "Christ, because he changed my heart."

14. That hypnosis crap is right out of the Left Behind series. And yeah, it's looney toon times.
Can't comment on your take on Bush though, not my place to judge...though I can't say I've witnessed any fruit from that tree.

Bitter fruit. Pure poison.

eta: Did you read any of the Left Behind? I know the gist and skipped it. It gave me the creeps when a friend from work was reading it and getting upset, convinced it was 'real'. Sad.

16. Yeah, I read the first couple - wanted to know what I might be up against in discussions with
people around who were reading it and buying into the fear-mongering. I still think it's fear that's driving a lot of the mega-church growth. They can disappear in the huge crowds remaining anonomous while placing their bet with Pascal. Meanwhile, the message they will most likely hear just reinforces the FUD, justifying their wager all the more.

It was the "mustard seed" BG planted in his soul, remember? No wonder the man has a noxious soul. As you sow....
