Forty-three percent of Catholics want pope out

Saturday, April 4th, 2009 | By: National Secular Society | Source: National Secular Society

Some 43 percent of Catholics want Pope Ratzinger to resign or retire, according to an IFOP poll published in France’s Le Journal du Dimanche.

Hostility to Ratzinger is higher among non-practising Catholics, with some 47 percent wanting the pope out of office, according to the survey, while only about a third of practising Catholics do. Meanwhile, more than 80 percent of Catholics polled want the church to modify its position on contraception and abortion, while significant majorities also want it to change its opposition to homosexuality and remarriage after divorce. Almost half consider Ratzinger does a bad job defending the values of Catholicism – a sharp increase from 13 percent who judged so in a separate survey last August for La Vie magazine. Twenty-two percent said he was doing a good job, 28 percent said it was “neither good, nor bad” and one percent refused to comment.

2. Frankly there is a simpler solution
Study the Bible and you find the Catholic Church is so far off message.

So I resigned from the Catholic Church, thereby getting closer to God

and further away from child molesting, money grubbing, institutionalized

false man-made gospel.

3. All gospel is false and man-made. Not restricted to Catholics, Christians or
any of the other 53,614 religious sects.

4. And all of them know practically nothing
about the Papacy, it would seem.

Popes don't resign or retire.

Speaking as someone who abandoned Catholicism as soon as I left home, I simply do not understand why any rational, thinking person would stay with the Church. Or with any other church for that matter. Double for the denominations that overtly oppress women.

But supposedly rational people often behave irrationally. Especially where religion is concerned.

6. The Pope is not always infallible.
Must declare a statement infallible for it to be infallible. It's kind of like an Executive Order.
