What's the deal with Santa and Jesus.
I mean how are they related. Can Santa be a alive and still be a Saint? If he's a Saint, can people pray to him and does he talk to Jesus.
Or is he celebrating Christmas like a Department Store, making it all about the gifts. Cause, you know, I never hear "good will towards men" in connection with Santa.
So, what's the deal here?

1. My secular perspective is
that they are both make-believe.

But I've heard they used to attend Solstice parties together. One Solstice, they they got into a fight over a girl. Santa won, he and Mrs. Claus moved up north, and Jesus entered the ministry. Their friends were torn between which one to follow, so they all lined up according to height, and Santa took the short ones.

2. So is Santa a Christian
or still a Pagan?

3. The story gets complicated after the split, because
a lot of documentation was lost during the Dark Ages.

But Santa Claus did indeed become a Christian after he and Mrs. Claus came out of seclusion.

He was able to get the saint gig while still living because of his connections.

5. I think he used to be Christian until he became a corporate capitalist
who owns a multi-national toy conglomerate.

6. Originally, he was hired by Macy's to promote their new line of
red suits. The red suits weren't popular with the public, but Santa looked great in them, and the kids loved him. So the started using him to market to kids.

7. Oh, they talk...
Santa's lists are archived and used as data to generate the Big List. You know, THE list. The one they keep at the gates.

Christmas is the only day of the year they are both too busy to get together.

8. It's so simple. Since "Santa" is an anagram for "Satan"
it's all biblical. Jesus is watching. Those who worship Santa ain't getting shit when they die. Satan's chuckling, cause he wins.

So, be sure to say "Merry Christmas" when you shop at Walmart. Santa's listening. Booga-booga!

9. Hurry up and answer, someone! The Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny are anxious to hear.
And looking at America today, how many of us can really believe that there is a Sanity Clause? ;-)

10. Santa is an Amerian adaptation of St. Nicholas
who was a bishop in Smyrna (present-day Izmir, Turkey) centuries and centuries ago. There's a legend about him providing dowries for young women who couldn't afford to get married by throwing bags of gold into their houses.

His festival day is December 6. In the Netherlands and parts of Germany, St. Nicholas Day became the day that children received small gifts of candy, etc.

The Dutch settlers brought the custom to New York, where English speakers misheard the Dutch pronunciation of "St. Nicholas" as "Santa Claus." Gradually it all merged into Christmas.

Clement Moore, who wrote "The Night Before Christmas," lived in New York, as did Thomas Nast, who popularized Santa Claus in 19th century cartoons.

That's all I remember.

13. OK, here's the whole story...
As we rush around shopping malls this holiday season, many of us forget the true meaning of Christmas.

2000 years ago, Christ was born on this very day. Our Lord did not come into this world alone.

He had His mother and five brothers who all had long white beards and wore red hats with white wool piping.

Now, these brothers didn't get along with their new sibling Jesus at first. One brother threatened to hit Jesus over the head with a Wimbledon trophy. Another brother tried to convince his camel to eat Jesus.

But one special brother, pictured in the right corner, simply hoisted a lamb over his head and said, "Eh, who cares." After about a week, Jesus' bearded brothers all passed away of mysterious diseases...except for one.

That brother's name was Santa Claus. And, you guessed it, he was the short-sleeved one with the lamb.

And that's the reason we wrap gifts in colorful paper and bring trees indoors this time of year.

14. This type of confusion is what happens....
...when one group steals another group's culture. And then centuries later people try to piece their own family's history back together and it doesn't make any damned sense. Because it's been twisted and adulterated beyond recognition and it requires much greater care and research to find out the truth. However, it is possible to discover that truth (if one is determined not to accept religious lies any longer) because although they certainly tried to, the bastards didn't get around to burning every goddamned thing. The fucking assholes.

There is one main thing about all this that one must remember. And that is that the point for The Church in stealing people's histories and pieces of their pagan religious beliefs and then incorporating those bits and pieces into their own made-up Christian fairy tales, was to aid in the FORCED-RELIGIOUS-ASSIMILATION of the people that the Romans conquered. So the idea of not being true to the history of a beaten and conquered people's culture was of no importance whatsoever. They were lucky just to be left alive and with their property, for those that were. In every case, a few "examples" always helps to move things along.

The scales must fall from people's eyes. Because The Church was then as it is now: a ruthless, bloodsucking, plagiarizing organization of thieves, without any morals or ethics. Their only concern? To be the only religion left standing when the dust settled.

16. Oh yeah.....
....I forgot to add these other pagan and cultural bogies that are similar to or who have been associated with St Nick since the assimilation of culture and history began to be merged into one idea.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_P%C3%A8re_Fouettard">Le Père Fouettard (French for The whipping Father) is a character who accompanies St. Nicholas in his rounds during St. Nicholas' Day (6th December) dispensing lumps of coal and/or floggings to the naughty children while St. Nick gives gifts to the well behaved.

A http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jultomten">Tomte (Swedish pronunciation: <ˈtɔ`mːtɛ>) or nisse (pronounced <ˈnìsːɛ>) is a mythical creature of Scandinavian folklore. Tomte or Nisse were believed to take care of a farmer's home and children and protect them from misfortune, in particular at night, when the housefolk were asleep.]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belsnickel">Belsnickel is the fur-clad Santa of the Palatinate (Pfalz) in northwestern Germany along the Rhine, the Saarland, and the Odenwald region of Baden-Württemberg. In Pennsylvania Dutch communities, it is also a mythical being who visits children at Christmas time.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perchta">Perchta or Berchta (English: Bertha), also commonly known as Percht and other variations, was once known as a goddess in Southern Germanic paganism in the Alpine countries. Her name means "the bright one" (Old High German beraht, bereht, from a Common Germanic *berhto-, ultimately root-cognate to Latin flagrare "blaze", flamma "flame") and is probably related to the name Berchtentag, meaning Epiphany. Perchta is often identified as stemming from the same Germanic goddess as Holda and other female figures of German folklore (see Frija-Frigg). According to Jacob Grimm and Lotte Motz, Perchta is Holda's southern cousin or equivalent, as they both share the role as a "guardian of the beasts" and come during the Twelve Days of Christmas when they check on the spinning.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krampus">Krampus or otherwise known as "Krotchus" in the U.S. is a mythical creature who accompanies Saint Nicholas in various regions of the world during the Christmas season, especially Austria. The word Krampus originates from the Old High German word for claw (Krampen). In the Alpine regions, Krampus is represented by an incubus-like creature. While Saint Nicholas gives gifts to good children, the Krampus warns and punishes bad children.
