I have only met Three Christ-Like people in my life...
1. A Franciscan priest who was a teacher of mine in high school.

2. A Buddhist lady that I truly loved.

3. A Hindu man that I worked with for many years.

No need to respond, as these are facts of my own life. Not yours.

I just wanted to post this publicly before I died.

2. How sad, I can't think of any people I have met who fit this category.
Damn, I have to get out in the world more.

4. Must be an age thing, in my 54 years I met many just most of them I never knew about until
they had passed on because they didn't expect anything for their acts of kindness, they just saw someone who needed a helping hand and gave it. I remember an old farmer in my younger days who seen me walking around in my ratted out jeans and tennie runners who tried to give me a pair of wore but still useable work boots and a pair of his bib overalls, he knew I was out of work, on welfare at the time, he thought pride was stopping me from accepting his charity, hey that was the way I liked dressing at the time. Then theres dad, grandpa and my uncle, who helped me out over the years but I never knew how much help they gave until it was to late, though my uncle I did repay when he came down with stomach cancer and I was able to be there for him to the end. At their funerals I found out that they all helped more people then family, even if it was little ways like giving a neighbor a ride to the store and paying for food rather then having the neighbor have to do without and never asked to be repaid. Age has a person seeing things differently then they did in their youth.

5. Sadder, I am older than you are. I really have to think more
of people I have known in my life. Maybe there are a few special people who are not coming to mind. I will say one thing, the people who I have known to be the most generous and the least self-serving were poor. People who have little realize that people need help from other people. The rich folks seem to think that everyone should use their bootstraps.

13. Of course it was lower middle class people who were this way, every
republicon supporter that were born again wouldn't stop to help a mother and child out of a burning car, though then would take photos or cam cord it in the hopes to sell it. My grandfather often said republicons would steal the pennies off a dead mans eyes if given half a chance, gramps really despised the GOP, he always called them the party of bankers, which really surprised me because I never heard gramps ever say anything bad about others until I asked him what he thought of St. Ronnie.

6. I know about one.
He was a Methodist minister. One day someone came to his home looking for some help for food. Rev. ended up giving the poor soul the sofa right out of his living room, too.

Otherwise, I don't think I know anyone. I have been the recipient of acts of grace (unmerited favor) but I cannot say that the person was Christ-like, but rather that the person acted in a Christian manner in that instance. IOW, the act was Christ-like but perhaps was situational or unique.

And, I must say that the several people who acted this way to help me were each gay men. And I'm a very straight woman. I find that fact warm and rather sweet.

20. "the person acted in a Christian manner"
How would it sound if someone said of commendable behavior that the person acted in a White manner? Or, more to your particular example, that they acted in a Straight manner?

Do Christians have a monopoly on morality?

16. It's worth remembering that there was an actual historical person behind the mythical figure.
Yeshua, however, wouldn't have been Christ-like at all.

19. What does it mean to be "Christ-like"?
It seems that certainly most Christians, but also a few non-believers, think that the biblical character Jesus was some kind of perfect human to emulate. The man, if he existed and said what is attributed to him, advocated violence at times, justified family discord, and reinforced the "demon/possession" theory of disease. He also never once spoke out against the institution of slavery - so very prevalent in the world at that time, nor did he give any unequivocal statements on other complex moral issues such as homosexuality.

I dunno, I'm of the opinion that being called "Christ-like" isn't exactly a compliment.
