Pastor and wife arrested on drug charges
MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - A Two month long Undercover drug investigation by the Mobile County Sheriff's Office has led to the arrest of a Pastor, James A. Hunter, and his wife, Sylvia Hunter, with Forever Flowing Ministries.

MCSO undercover narcotic deputies began purchasing drugs from Hunter and his wife in March. On May 20, 2011, deputies arranged to buy morphine from the couple and detained them when they showed up.

The two agreed to provide further information on their illegal drug operations, and turned themselves in to the Mobile County Sheriff's Office June 2, 2011.

James is charged with six counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, attempt/possession and possession/receiving a controlled substance.

Sylvia is charged with possession/receiving a controlled substance.

1. This news deserves an obligatory reference to religion being...
the opiate of the masses, though it seems this couple took it a step farther.

2. GoogleEarth shows a building that purports to be a daycare center at that address:
pictures of Minnie and Mickey and Pooh on a windowless building

Signage seems to say: "Forever Flowing Ministeries" and perhaps "Infant(?) Center ABC"

3. Not surpising, those who proscribe any worldly pleasures to others...
...insisting that only divinely approved diversions are free from sin are happy to make exceptions for themselves.

4. I have been unable to find much information about "James A. Hunter" or "Forever Flowing Ministries"
Aside from the fact that he has a small apparently windowless building, sometimes identified as a daycare center, with cartoon figures painted on it, with a "Forever Flowing Ministries," and the fact that he seems to call himself a "minister," I don't know anything

What do you know about the background of "James A. Hunter"? Was he ordained by any existing institution? What about "Forever Flowing Ministries"? Is it associated with any particular denomination? Is there any institutionalm oversight? What exactly are the alleged religious teachings of "Forever Flowing Ministries"?

6. A lot of religions don't require any sort
of formal learning. If the church thinks someone has a "genuine calling," they'll go buy a certificate from the Bible book store and have an ordination for the new preacher, with refreshments afterward. In this case, the man and his wife might have ordained each other -- who the hell knows. This sort of thing is what Christianity is all about to a lot of people.

7. My mistake, he is actually a paragon of virtue.
How could I possibly accuse someone like this of hypocrisy?

Switch to decaf.

8. Dunno. Where did you find any information at all about the guy, and what did you find?
Pictures I saw, of the "daycare," made me suspect that the "Ministry" was a sleazy affair, run by a con who liked to call himself a "minister" or "pastor" -- but of course we often pretend around here to believe in "innocent until proven guilty," so I guess that could have been unfair and uncharitable on my part

... Authorities don't know if the couple was dealing drugs out of the daycare or who their clients were, but they said the Hunters also owned a hair salon on Charles Street in Mobile ... Along with drugs, money and guns, authorities said they also found a lot of merchandise in the Hunter's home, including television sets still in the box and lawnmowers. The sheriff's office said the Hunters are corporating with authorities to uncover even more of this illegal drug ring ...
