Schilling--I hope the first inning is an indication of how...
the game's gonna go.
Damn, he looks good. Sharp fastball, pinpoint control and a good splitter. It could be a long night for Yankee hitters.

2. The entire Yankee ownership is Republican
While the Sox ownership campaigned with and donated to Kerry.

Feel better?

Basing your fan support on politics is silly and can ruin your good time.

4. Don't worry--I took your remark in the spirit it was offered, besides...
I'm pretty sure A-Rod is an avid shrub supporter.
I think I'll reserve my Bronx cheers for him. ;)

5. most athletes are Republican
Harold Baines was an exception.

Regardless, I hate Schilling more than any player in baseball. More than I hated Pedro. He's a glory hound. Its why his teammates in Philly and Arizona hated him.

7. Yeah, Schilling started running out of gas in the fifth...
although the Sox squandered some great scoring opportunities, especially in the third, that let Wright off the hook.

It was a disappointing loss, but I'm still encouraged by how good Schilling looked in the early innings for his first start.

Now let's see how the Bronson vs. Johnson match-up shakes out. ;)

8. Good strategy by the Yanks--run up the pitch count early
This is the strategy Torre used when they were winning World Series...patient hitting every at bat. I've noticed the past couple years Yankee hitters swinging for the fences every at bat. They cannot do this and expect to win.

9. I agree that the Yankee batters last night were very...
disciplined at the plate--whether as a result of a conscious strategy by Torre or due to the fact that it is a seasoned, veteran lineup up and down the order. They made Schilling grind away for every at-bat and his pitch count climbed early.

Anyway--last night is last night--I want to see how the Sox lineup deals with the Big Unit tonight. It should be a great match-up, Arroyo looked pretty sharp his last time out, although that was against Toronto. I guess we'll see in about an hour. ;)
