Get the Funk out my face, Fred!

I've been pissed about this since Tiger Woods won the Masters, and was reminded of it last night when it was mentioned on the Golf Channel. A golfer named Fred Funk said that the players were no longer "afraid" of Tiger, and he would never domineer as he once did.

That would be fine and dandy, Fred, except for two things: only ONE golfer finished within SEVEN shots of Tiger, and more important, YOU DIDN'T EVEN MAKE THE FREAKING CUT!!!! Tiger may not be "scaring" or "domineering" you guys the way he used to--but you're STILL not beating him consistently. Until you do, SHUT THE FUNK UP!!!

(Okay, now I feel better...)

1. Well. Fred did just become
the oldest player to win the Player's Cahampionship. I believe that field included Tiger as well as Ernie, Vijay, Phil, and Retief.

3. If he'd said what he did after winning the Player's Championship
he would have had something concrete to back it up with.

Saying it after a tournament in which Tiger DID end up domineering, and he FAILED to make the cut, reflects badly on Funk as both a golfer and a person. After the Masters, only Chris DiMarco, who stayed a stroke behind Tiger, was qualified to make such a statement.

4. Maybe they can challenge him
but when Tiger is "on"...well, nobody can touch him.

5. Too bad he's never ON anymore
He had a good third round, but he got lucky on Sunday.

6. Tiger readily admitted that luck played a big role in his win

but as I mentioned, only one golfer was in a position to have taken advantage of his bogeys on the last two holes (and DIDN'T_. I think that falls into the category of "domineering."
