for the Red Sox. With the injuries/shaky starts from Wells and Schilling, Arroyo has really stepped up as the cornerstone of the Sox pitching staff.

He flirted with a no-hitter through 6 1/3 innings before giving up a solo shot to Carlos Guillen; that was the Tigers only run in a 2-1 loss to the Sox.

Sox win! :D

1. I'm glad we didn't trade him.
He's got the makings of a keeper for years to come.

3. Arroyo's great.
Too bad last year I for some reason developped a bad opinion of him and foolishly told my fellow fan friends "I'll never like Arroyo". So yeah, I still have to hate on him ;)

But seriously, where's the Sox offense? Their batting averages suck and they strand runners like nobody's business.

8. Yeah, it would be nice if the pitching staff had a little more run...
support, but in a way it's encouraging that they can keep on a winning trend without that offense really tearing it up. Right now they are squandering a lot of scoring opportunities, when they could be putting some of these games out of reach.

4. You beat me to it! Just posted on my other thread about Arroyo
and the 3-game win streak.

Now that he's back, things are starting to look up! They've won--I believe--5 of the last 6 without him, and now I just know they'll be unstoppable!

9. I think the Boston front office could see Lowe's self- immolation...
looming on the horizon. The buzz is that he's overly fond of the bottle.

10. Plus the time had come for Lowe to switch leagues.
The NL hitters won't be as familiar with him, and he'll do better there. I'm sad to see the '04 players go, but I think he's better off elsewhere. Too bad the Rockies didn't pick him up, his style would have worked well in Coors Field.
