2. This is blowing my mind.
I understand the pitfals of spending a bunch of money on superstars who don't have a good dynamic, but you wouldn't think the Yanks would be having such a hard time. My mind boggles.

To be fair, however, the Sox bats suck so far this year. Start Youkilis every game!!! :)

would have long-lasting effects--maybe I'm finally right about something!

Shit happens when you buy old pitchers who all DL at once.

18. I'm a Yankee fan,
and while i'm disappointed, I really can't say that i'm shocked. George has no one to blame but himself for this mess.

As for no nasty posts, Yankee fans have been handing it out for the past few years, now it's our turn to take it. Ya gotta be big about it. If not, you're just a sore loser and an even worse winner. jmo.

21. Wow
You know I am gonna tell you what Ive told many Yankee fans, you guys are not doing welln ow because your front office cared more about having this team of all stars than they did about youth, I really thought Soriano was a great 2B, Lilly a good starter, losing Pennite to free agency was also a killer, and Nick Johnson had more of a future than Giambi.

22. agree with every one of your observations . . .
since they lost the 2001 Series, they've made one bad personnel move after another . . . latest major screwups were not re-signing John Lieber and Miguel Cairo after last year . . .

if you collected all the young talent that they traded away, gave away, or just didn't re-sign in the past couple of years, you'd have a pretty good team . . . right now, we have a group of geriatrics whose report cards all read "does not play well with others" . . .

28. Agree with all but Nick
I just don't like the fact that he's so injury prone. Although having him now would be HUGE! I don't think the Yankees should have gone out & Tino back. Yes, he meant a great deal to the team during the 90's, but that was then. Yeah, he's been hitting the ball the last couple of games, but he can't sustain it over the whole season, and the front office isn't going to allow Andy Phillips to play every day when there's millions sitting on the bench.

Jason's a lost cause, i'm afraid. While I admire the fact that, unlike others, he told the truth and he's out there facing the music, I still don't think there's any place in the game for him and what he did. And I was one person that was all for him coming to the Yankees!

Letting Jon Leiber go was just wrong, and I still think getting rid of Javier Vasquez was a mistake. George should own up to screwing up, eat Kevin Brown's contract and send him packing. It was obvious when he thought punching the wall last year was something that showed his "toughness", that he's nothing but a me guy.

The Yankees also didn't need A-Rod. They needed someone like Carlos Beltran. I wasn't thrilled with the money that he and his agent were asking for, but given where Bernie is right now defensively, I would have taken him.

Just my random ramblings..... :)

Hi HuckleB!
I calls 'em as I sees 'em! :)

29. Yep
Yes A-rod wasnt needed, you have a shortstop, Jeter why get two, I hear this actually done as a haha to the red sox who missed out on him, well the joke's on the Yanks now, seriously though, Jeter-Soriano would have been a nice SS-2B tandem, now the best in the division as of now is arguably IMO and admittingly biased, Tejada-Roberts.

31. Tejada is one of our best pick ups in recent years
He has a great chance this yera if he keeps up to become the first player in the AL to have back to back seasons leading the AL in RBI since Cecil Fielder did in the early 90's. The thing that makes the Orioles, I think a good team this year is their balance, you got guys like Tejada, Sosa who can hit home runs but guys like Roberts, Mora who are good contact guys who have speed too.

35. I agree they didn't need A-Rod . . .
they'd have been just as well off (and paying a lot less) if they'd kept Soriano . . . and Beltran even offered them a $10 million discount if they'd sign him . . . but George has had a hard on for the Big Unit (hey . . . that's funny!) for years, and NOTHING would disuade him . . . Cashman and the baseball folks all lobbied for Beltran rather than Johnson, and they were ignored . . . this whole dysfunctional team is squarely on George's shoulders, though he'll never admit it . . .

36. Beltran would have made sense
Hes still pretty young and in his prime, and Bernie Williams is aging, so have Beltran as the heir in Center, and have Bernie perhaps DH to keep his bat in the line up, Johnson is 41, it really was not needed to get him.
