Cheaters! Now I know how the Phils beat us on Monday.
Phillies bullpen coach busted using binoculars

By ARNIE STAPLETON – 45 minutes ago

DENVER — The Philadelphia Phillies insist they weren't trying to steal signs when bullpen coach Mick Billmeyer was caught on camera peering through binoculars from the bullpen bench at Coors Field earlier this week.

Manager Charlie Manuel told The Associated Press that Billmeyer simply was watching Philadelphia catcher Carlos Ruiz set up defensively Monday night.

FSN Rocky Mountain, the flagship broadcaster of the Colorado Rockies, showed Billmeyer using the binoculars to peer in on Colorado catcher Miguel Olivo while the Phillies were at bat in the top of the second inning.

Colorado noticed Billmeyer using the binoculars from his perch in center field in the top of the first inning and asked FSN to zoom in on the visitor's bullpen. Armed with evidence, Rockies manager Jim Tracy brought it to the attention of crew chief Jerry Crawford, who spoke with Manuel between the first and second innings.

1. Yeah we all know the Phillies are terrible

2. Didn't I read that the Phils have lost more games than anyone?
In any sport?

The Rox will never be able to break that record, fer sure.

5. Manuel: "Would we try to steal somebody's signs? Yeah, if we can."
FOXSports.com first reported the reprimand from the league, which reviewed video of the matter Tuesday.

7. The Mets filed a complaint too!
Ringolsby, quoting an unnamed source, said the Rockies are actually the second team this season to file a complaint about the Phillies. He said the Mets reportedly filed a similar complaint May 2 after ace Johan Santana was knocked around by the Phils.

8. Photographic proof!

The Philadelphia Phillies' use of binoculars from the visiting bullpen has left them in the Rockies' cross hairs.

Major League Baseball warned the Phillies on Wednesday about the actions of bullpen coach Mick Billmeyer during Monday night's game at Coors Field. Rockies manager Jim Tracy, who suspects the Phillies were trying to steal signs, was visibly upset over the incident.

"As far I am concerned, it is out of line," Tracy said. "It's one thing to play a club as hard as you can possibly play it. But, if you are cheating and you get caught, then you better do something about it. A pair of binoculars staring down the barrel of the hitting area — I don't think any team would take too kindly to that.

9. All NL teams should respond by...
completely blocking the view of the field from the visitor's bullpen with a tarp whenever the Phillies come it to town.
