The 25 Most Hated Teams of All Time...

Strutting. Showboating. Self-congratulation. Self-promotion. A sense of entitlement. Too much money. Too much talent. Bandwagon fans. Criminal behavior. Dirty play. These are just some of the things that made the 25 single-season teams on this list so insufferable, and their most egregious sin may have been winning or, in some cases, their failure to win enough. Of all the passions that teams ordinarily inspire, widespread hatred is a pretty notable achievement. Hearty contempt for rivals is a natural part of the sports landscape, but every so often a team unleashes a massive dose of loathing that consumes everyone but its own fans. 2. The only team I hate on that list

is the 93-94 Knicks. I root for the Pacers from the East which explains why though I actually like the Knicks now that they got Amare. Still Phoenix is #1. I'm just a fan of the game more than I am of my own team.

I disregard #1 because Rick Reilly is a jerk.

On edit-I also always root against Notre Dame but I do not hate them.

4. ND is in there not for who they are, but what they did...beat florida State and still didn't

get the national title...FSU did...it highlighted how bad the bowl system was and led to its even worse fix...the BCS!

3. An excellent list!!

The usual suspects: The 'Canes, Cowboys, Pats, Yankees, ND and Oakland all represented. I agree wholeheartedly with #1, though. That team was despicable. Great to see them lose when it counted. The only question - who was the bigger asshole: Johnson or Erickson???

7. Erickson is a great guy

I actually don't personally know him so I can't judge either way but he seems like a decent person. Nothing but great things to say about the players he worked with in his time at Miami, Oregon State, Seattle, etc.

He is also doing a good job at recruiting and has improved the defense. Unfortunately his offense was awful which is why the AD hired an offensive coordinator. It didn't help that the QB was inaccurate as hell.

13. I actually hated the Bulls

with MJ. The only reason why I did is because they were successful and a very difficult team to beat. However I did root for them against the Jazz who they beat twice in the Finals. I f'in hate the Jazz. Always have, always will.

But as a whole, they're hated as much as ND or Miami. More so, after the embarrassment of the expansion issue this past spring. Came across as spoiled children. Which they are.

I don't blame the Soviet *team* - they were just out trying to win a game. The referees, though - definitely among the all-time biggest disgraces in officiating.

That was a much better article than I expected - they did a good job actually articulating why one might hate each team, even for the ones I don't really hate.

are in agreement about the refs. If memory serves me right the worst was a Romanian. Warsaw Pact member.
