Japan is also pledging to project holographs of the matches on to pitches all around the world if 3D technology has advanced sufficiently in the intervening years.

The 550-billion-yen Universal Fan Fest would allow 360 million people worldwide to watch matches live in 3D telecasts at nearly 400 specially selected stadiums across FIFA's 208 member countries.
