Uniforms Ducks will wear against Auburn revealed

Nike this morning unveiled the new uniforms the Oregon Ducks will wear when they face Auburn in the BCS National Championship Game on Jan. 10 in Glendale, Ariz.

Designer Todd Van Horne talked about creating the uniforms with speed in mind after consulting with Ducks coach Chip Kelly.

"We worked with him and designed something that will actually look like blur on the field," Van Horne said.

Actually, at first glance, I'm not particularly fond of these. I realize they are new and all, but some of their road uniforms they wore earlier this year are much more to my liking. For instance:

never liked their all white look either. I mean, what's wrong with something like this:

6. perhaps the strategy is....

...that Auburn will be laughing so loud that they will let some plays get through. My take is, if a team has to change the uniforms that got them as far as they've come, theyr desperate for an advantage. Auburn will take the ducks down for the NC. Only my opinion, and I am not an Auburn fan. Thanks.

8. Oregon isn't looking for an advantage..

they have so many different colored helmets, jerseys, pants, and socks, that an almost seemingly endless combination of uniforms is available to them. Thus, they rarely wear the same uniform twice in one season. This new NCG uniform is similar to the one they wore against Tennessee with some minor changes..most notably the socks.

7. too much distraction

Oregon with their Unis, and Cam on the Heisman appreciation tour. The funny thing about this uni gimmick would be if Auburn, as the higher ranked team, decided to wear their road whites (the stormtrooper unis) rather than the home navy. That wont happen of course, but would be some funny gamesmanship.

Get the boys home, get through finals & Christmas, and start focusing on the game.

AU's D (which has been suspect in the secondary, although they step up when they need too), better be working hard on conditioning drills now to be ready for the Hurry Up O.

9. This isn't a "gimmick"

This is the Oregon Ducks. I understand TCU is breaking out new uniforms for the Rose Bowl...another gimmick? We've seen a lot of different uniforms this year. Those worn in the Boise/VT game for example. You're looking at the future that is almost here. The days of one road and one home uniform will soon be a thing of the past for schools other than just Oregon.

Btw, I wish the Ducks had been the home team. Then, maybe their new NCG uniform would have been something similar to my personal favorite from this year...the blacks worn against UW.

11. The all black look cool for sure

But being from the southeast where "tradishun" reigns supreme, espcially for college football, tweaks to unis are considered gimmicks by many of the traditionalists. You're starting to see the uni changes creep more into the SEC (UF uses a few, and UGA had the black jerseys too).

Auburn did the uni change a number of years ago (and it was a gimmick b/c they were seriously outmanned that day), and in hindsight is not viewed favorably by the older crowd - but the younger folks are trending more toward the occasional uni change (I fall more in this category).
