Eagles' Vick would pick himself as league MVP ...
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Michael Vick's MVP pick?

That would be Michael Vick.

Asked after practice Friday who he would select if he had a vote, the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback said, "You put me on the spot."

Then he added with a smile: "I would take ... myself."

Vick and Patriots quarterback Tom Brady are widely considered the top two candidates for the award, which has been won or shared by a quarterback 17 of the last 23 years.

Brady leads the NFL with a 109.9 passer rating. In his last nine games, he's thrown 21 touchdowns and no interceptions. The Patriots (12-2) have won 11 of their last 12.

4. Lots of QBs would be as successful as Brady
in that system.

5. Lots? Come on.
Let's not pretend that Tom Brady is some hack like Trent Dilfer or Brad Johnson, he's a great player. Not a good one, a great one. He's got pinpoint accuracy, great decision making, great pocket awareness and has the killer instinct. He has the "it" factor that so many quarterbacks of better raw ability lack. Natural leader, cold as ice under pressure, he's just a winner.

The top QBs in the league might have been as successful as Brady but certainly not "lots". He's probably done more with less than any multi-Super Bowl winning QB in the history of the game. Credit where credit is due.

11. That's Just Silly
If you actually watch him play, you'll immediately recognize that he is as or more accurate than any QB in football. He has a quick release and goes through his progressions faster than anyone but Manning.

You know, sometimes the qb makes the system as much as the other way around. This isn't high school football we're talking about.

2. Everybody loves Vick. But no one more than Vick himself.
“Everywhere I go, all around the world, people still support Mike Vick. Regardless of what I go through, people gon’ love me.”

3. It's kind of hard not to pick him.
I'm as big a Brady fan as there is but Brady could not do on the Eagles what Vick is doing while Vick could do what Brady is doing in New England. Tom just doesn't have the mobility necessary to survive behind this mediocre offensive line. The Eagles have better weapons, the Pats have the better line. The only sticking point in my mind is that Brady has played the whole season while Vick has missed a few games hurt.

What this article does not mention is that Vick also said that winning the MVP doesn't mean anything without winning the Championship and that given the choice between the two he would easily take the ring.

6. Vick has had a very good season
but Tom Brady (as usual) is head and shoulders above everyone else. And I'm not a Pats fan.

7. Vick: Classic narcissist
Football is a nearly total team sport. I wonder how much success Vick would have this year if Barry Sims was his left tackle?

8. He IS the MVP
of dog torturers. Fuck him. Why is it off-field behavior can keep baseball players out of the Hall of Fame but in football it's just business as usual?

9. I probably agree with Vick
although choosing between him and Brady is like Sophie's Choice. If the Chargers had gotten into the playoffs, I would include Rivers in that. They are all exceptional at what they do.

10. I pick him as MVP and colossal douchebag at the same time.
It's all about him, his troubles, his ordeal, and what a tough life he's had. He's a victim, and this is his triumph.

What a smeghead. Where's Deacon Jones when I need him???
