Tressel says all 5 players coming back next season
Five Ohio State football players suspended for the first five games of next season will return to play for the Buckeyes next year, coach Jim Tressel said Thursday.

The five, including quarterback Terrelle Pryor, vowed to return before Tressel agreed to allow them to play in next week's Allstate Sugar Bowl.

According to the Columbus Dispatch, Tressel said Thursday that he told the players they "have to make any decision based on the future" before the team left for New Orleans. He said that "it wouldn't be fair if someone was able to participate" and then leave for the NFL.

Tressel said the five players -- Pryor, running back Dan Herron, receiver DeVier Posey, left tackle Mike Adams and defensive end Solomon Thomas -- were unanimous in saying they would stay for the 2011 season. All would be eligible for the NFL draft if they had decided to leave school.

I think Tressel just got played..The players obviously have no connection to OSU other than putting on the uniform, most likely just another way to play one more game and improve their draft statuses. Pathetic.

1. They are coming back because they wouldn't be drafted
at all or highly I heard...In fact I heard an NFL scout said about Pryor that he wouldn't "touch him with a 40 foot pole".
But I'm pretty sure Tressel is well aware of this fact. Do you honestly think he cares about what they did? No, he cares about winning. Thats all.
See, this is why Maryland's firing of Ralph Friedgen infuriates me. The man actually cared about his STUDENT ATHELETES. They want to bring in someone like Tressel, whom is all about winning games, not about the welfare of his players.

2. It's that bad?
hell with the way im hearing it from the media, these guys would be 1st or 2nd rounders all of them. I guess local media isn't a good source for non biased reporting :spank:

I agree with your Maryland sentiment though, those guys played their hearts out for their coach and now Leach is gonna come in and bring all the media parades which will hurt them.

3. You should check out Leach's graduation rates at TTU
Most universities would kill for those rates AND win football games. Is he colorful, of course, but he doesn't bullshit or spin the current PR spin from the AD.

4. Coaching and graduation weren't a problem under the Fridge, really
The problem is that Maryland's academic admission standards are quite strict --the average incoming freshman's GPA is 3.5! Hell the overall graduation rate at Maryland has been something like 50% for years now.. The only way, Maryland will succeed is if they break their own rules and recruit people who aren't up to their standards. Most of us around here knew that...I'm quite happy having a very good academic school with a moderately successful football program.
And the dumbass AD doesn't really care I suppose.--Hiring Leach has nothing to do with academics or coaching...it has EVERYTHING to do with making money. And I'm afraid he's going to hurt the overall standards of the school itself in that pursuit.

5. As a diehard Razorback fan...
... I don't care if they declare or come back next year as long as they play Arkansas in the Sugar bowl this year. Win or lose, I don't want to hear any excuses from either team. Thanks.
