Jurgen Klinsmann named new coach of USMNT

Color me shocked. I was pro-Maradona. It'll be interesting to see how Klinsmann works with Reyna to develop a "national style".

His first match in charge will be the August 10 friendly with Mexico. Ouch.

1. What would the officials have done?
They hate the USA -- but love Maradona:

3. True that
The dynamic inside the USSF just got twisted all the way around. There's potential here to finally get the USMNT on a footing to compete with the big boys.

I'm less interested in the performance of the current crop of internationals than I am in the development side. Fun times ahead.

4. Klinsmann is a good choice...

I don't know how much of a difference he will make to the National Style in the short term. I am of the opinion, and this is strictly opinion, that US players are just not creative on the pitch. They have great fundamentals but I always feel like they are playing 'by the numbers' when I watch them. I love Landon and I thought Jozzy was gonna be the best player US Soccer ever produced but the US "style" never allows a truly creative player to shine.

Like I said, totally my opinion.

Good luck, to USMNT and fans.
